Our sleepy little southern city is having immigrant workshops. Notaries are volunteering their time validating durable power of attorney documents.
How do you tell your child, "Bring this to the principal's office so if I'm not there because ICE is deporting me, relatives will come get you and you won't get thrown into foster care or a shelter?"
We also saw a friend become a citizen Friday. A mom, wife, insurance broker, she is a credit to this country--like most immigrants are.
My card said, "We are so lucky to have you!"
Thank goodness she squeaked by under the wire.

Obviously, because your friend became a citizen, she did not come here illegally.

She had a student visa and lived with an aunt for a few years. She had met her now husband at that time. They traveled back and forth. But their oldest is in school so they've been married 8 years or so.

The same way any parent who has committed crimes tells their kid that. You know there are Americans every day that get separated from their kids becauae they committed a crime. And in the case of illegals the parents KNOW that's a possibility of occurring. Just like Ameticans know as well.

The difference between illegals and Americans is that the illegals can take their kids with them. Americans can't.

My son said the Eagles won the Super Bowl during the last Trump presidency and refused his invitation for fast food at the White House.
I was rooting for them before, and now I know they have good judgment off the field, too.
