DEI is fine but it becomes a problem when more qualified applicants are overlooked because of the color of their skin. DEI is actually promoting racism just like affirmative action did by forcing employers to reject more qualified applicants because the company already has too many of a specific demographic. That’s not equality when employment opportunities have to be regulated based on race, nationality, religion, gender, etc, etc; that’s actually the opposite of equality. What is equality is saying that we don’t care what race, nationality, religion, or gender you are we’re looking to hire the most qualified people to fill positions. That’s equality. If ending racism is "woke nonsense," then I'm glad to be awake.
no, ignoring or pretending it doesn't exist will not make it go away.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.. kinda' makes you wonder why that triggers MAGA so much.
Amen and let’s not forget that America elected a black president twice. Racism in America is dead except for those who demand that we set aside employment positions for people of different ethnicities. People are so focused on trying to be antiracist that they actually become racist on the opposite side of the spectrum.Nearly a decade ago in America, in 2015, 17% of all marriages performed were inter-racial.
You don't have that in racist and bigoted societies by and large. Even in 1967 it was only 3%.
Plus, ask a Saudi who is descended from Mohammed whether he is giving his daughter in marriage to an Iraqi, or a Bahraini Shi'ite.. People are by and large ingrained to preserve culture and heritage, not race, but in most places race is also somewhat of a factor.
However in America not only do sects (Christians will marry Catholics or Baptists marry a Lutheran) intermarry, but races intermarry as well. A non-Jewish semite might marry a white European, a white European might marry a black American, a black American might marry a Latin American woman..
It goes down through all of us. We are one culture in the main here in America and probably among the least racially divided of any nation on earth, and in a generation made excellent strides in showing the world what equality under the law can look like as well a life in the brotherhood of Christ - then we lost our way.
All screaming and shouting false accusations of racism at people who are doing an awesome job of showing Christ to the world really is wrong and does understandably upset good people.
Let's recall some real data shall we?
"The decline in opposition to intermarriage in the longer term has been even more dramatic, a new Pew Research Center analysis of data from the General Social Survey has found. In 1990, 63% of nonblack adults surveyed said they would be very or somewhat opposed to a close relative marrying a black person; today the figure stands at 14%. Opposition to a close relative entering into an intermarriage with a spouse who is Hispanic or Asian has also declined markedly since 2000, when data regarding those groups first became available. The share of nonwhites saying they would oppose having a family member marry a white person has edged downward as well."

Intermarriage in the U.S. 50 Years After Loving v. Virginia
In 2015, 17% of all U.S. newlyweds had a spouse of a different race or ethnicity, marking more than a fivefold increase since 1967, when the landmark Supreme Court case legalized interracial marriage.www.pewresearch.org
This is not a racist society. They can watch a football game without the holier than thou act on the football field. It's unwarranted.
I can’t argue with you there, unfortunately every time election time rolls around we’re always forced to choose between the lesser of two idiots which isn’t always an easy choice.Nobody forced Trump to falsely claim that Obama can't be an American because he's black. Nobody forced Musk to do a Nazi salute or to hire a Nazi sympathizer for DOGE.
The GOP's racist policies are forcing decent people to take action.
Right.DEI is fine
So how do we tell the difference between fine DEI and 'malignant' DEI?but it becomes a problem when more qualified applicants are overlooked because of the color of their skin. DEI is actually promoting racism just like affirmative action did by forcing employers to reject more qualified applicants
Rather than banning DEI, can't we simply ensure that these policies obey non-discrimination laws?
How would we go about doing that? Employment is based on so many factors that I just don’t see how it can be enforced effectively because it’s not always about qualifications on paper there are other factors that are taken into consideration. Things like appearance, hygiene, the way a person presents and conducts themselves, how competent the person is and how clearly does that person communicate as well as a long list of other factors that just can’t be controlled by laws. There’s just no way to do it effectively in reality, at least not that I can see.Right.
So how do we tell the difference between fine DEI and 'malignant' DEI?
I mean, DEI is just a three letter acronym. We have laws about non-discrimination on the basis of this and that.
Rather than banning DEI, can't we simply ensure that these policies obey non-discrimination laws?
Unfortunately that is often the case when the pendulum swings too far to one side or the other. It's often the ones calling for no Racism who are the most racist. So yes, the topic is offensive
Well, then you can't ban DEI either. How would we go about doing that? Employment is based on so many factors that I just don’t see how it can be enforced effectively
Does DEI force employers to refuse more qualified applicants because of their particular demographic? Because if it does then it’s still discrimination.Well, then you can't ban DEI either.
I get along fine with the fans from the opposing teams. Even the gung ho obnoxious ones are alright when you talk to themOdd. Usually the people attending sports seem to be engaging in fierce rivalry, not fellowship in my experience. There have occasionally even been riots following games. Do the Crips and the Bloods "come together" over gang membership? I just think this is a particularly bad analogy.
Ridiculous.
I hope that Superbowl attendees with conscience will bring "end racism" posters to their seats and display them prominently in the direction of President Trump.
I hope that after the National Anthem attendees with conscience will shout "End Racism" at the top of their lungs!
Maybe the NFL is misjudging Trump. Maybe he wouldn't mind. I certainly expect that any President with the tiniest, slimmest thread of integrity wouldn't mind "End Racism." It is a sacred sentiment of justice---almost like a prayer lifted to the skies.
But it just increases the incredible pain I've had in my heart since January 20 to think that the NFL did judge correctly.
When Trump refers to Obama in his social media posts, he nearly always does so by calling him ‘Barack HUSSEIN Obama’ (capital letter emphasis is his, not mine).Ridiculous.
Trump isn’t racist!
The left isn't parading Nazi signs in Ohio this week.Advertising it has just sought to perpetuate it. Why does the left want racism to constantly be an issue so much?
Someone went all out, but it wasn't the left.I hope the left goes all out on it tomorrow. Lots of signs. Lots of chanting.
People usually come to that conclusion when there is evidence to support it. In 1989, Trump lambasted the Central Park Five (five black and Latino men) who were arrested for allegedly raping a jogger in Central Park. When they were found innocent because of DNA, Trump still wanted them kept in prison. In 1973, the Justice Department sued Trump for discriminating against blacks. He has a history of disdain for black, brown and muslim individuals. So, apparently half the country knows his history of discrimination and you don't.Ridiculous.
Trump isn’t racist
If that is so, why is the NFL afraid he would be offended at the words "End Racism" in each end zone?Ridiculous.
Trump isn’t racist!
