A petition calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump has garnered more than 100,000 signatures just a few days into his second term.

The White House has been contacted for comment via email.

Why It Matters

The support for Trump's impeachment underscores the deep political divisions in the country and the reaction to his campaign and actions taken in the first days of his second term.

Trump was twice impeached during his first administration, but he was acquitted by the Senate in both cases.

I am definitely NOT a Trump and I find this bizarre and unhelpful. I can get some people don't like him. No one has to.

The only time a President should be impeached is if someone can articulate something the President did to warrant such an action. Simply not liking or supporting a President is no reason for Impeachment.

I don't think Trump shouldn't have been a possibility in the first place, to be a president. He didn't do good during COVID-19. He's for the rich and annoying are allies. And he doesn't care about the middle class or poor. Also he broke laws. Let's not forget about his part in January 6th. That alone should get him fired. I think their should be stricter rules, before you should be a president. The vice president isn't much better. To extreme right. I wouldn't be surprised if he's into project 25. And the extreme side of liberal isn't better.

Absolutely hilarious. Thank you sore democrats for providing and endless ever increasing stream of political melodrama entertainment.

I actually believe it ceased being entertaining quite some time ago, sadly.

We either figure out how to calm down the rhetoric and emotion behind this or we end up in a real civil war. It's not going anywhere positive, and it's gone far beyond reason already.

I can't see how anyone in America wants this. I really can't.

What did he not do during covid-19 he tried to shut down the border to China and people did not like that. Maybe he would have done something different knowing then what he knows now, but the mere fact that people died does not mean he handled it poorly. Particularly when many people who died had other issues anyway, Moreover, who is to say that people are ot still dying as an indrect result of covid-19 and no the shot is not all I am talking about.

Additionally, and I understand that you are not a Chrisian but there are people who really covid speeding their death up was a blessing and no I am not talking about all Christians. Iam talkig about people who were dying anyway and co-vid may have knocked a few months of pain off.

The fringes of politics on both sides of the aisle are frequent sources of entertainment.

We prayed for God's Will to be done in the 2024 election; now we must pray that the new President be allowed to do the job for which he was elected.

Apparently, the opposition to President Trump's leadership continues. I've seen numerous reports stating that those opposed to him intend to 'block' all his actions, and they've already begun doing so. This includes those opposed to him in the Federal employee workforce that he's inherited. This comes as no surprise to me since they opposed his efforts during his first term of office, making it very difficult if not impossible to get anything accomplished.

It appears that 'obstruction' is going to be the name of the game ... again.
We need to keep our foot on the 'prayer pedal'.

Obstruction has gone both ways since Obama’s Presidency and I wouldn’t doubt prior. The days of working together are long gone.

"Free Speech for People is calling on Congress to launch an immediate impeachment investigation to determine whether there are sufficient grounds to impeach Donald Trump for offenses that have already occurred and that will continue in the days to come," the petition states.

Very non-specific and even attempts to be prophetic by predicting the future.
With all that's going on right now, this is the best Trump's opponents have to offer the country as the minority party. So much for unity, "we're all in this together", and that whole thing about "democracy". Now it's all about lawsuits, impeachments, slander, and the continuance of divisiveness.
Perhaps it's part of their campaign to regain power in 2026? Will they be able to divide Americans once again after they united against 4 more years of the same old politics and voted for Trump as their president?

The group that did this actually does list many specifics here IMPEACH TRUMP. AGAIN.

It‘s just a way to bring attention to their website and organization.

People just need to simmer down and be patient with Trump.

Obviously, there isn't going to be an impeachment with a MAGA-controlled House, and Trump shouldn't be impeached unless he does something new in office that's egregious.

So give it a couple years.

They name so many things that are quite flimsy to prove, not to mention have been done by the previous president that it looks like it would fall flat on its face if tried, especially by a Congressional minority. I think people are over the whole impeachment tactic. Already done twice, and for what purpose? He's been re-elected right after far stronger tactics were used against him, and the Senate was flipped to a Republican majority as well.

I didn’t say that have any merit to it. Personally, I’d like to see Congress restricted from any investigations until they actually do some work.

I WON!

I also predicted/am predicting three to five impeachments before his term is over.
