  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

..that didn't take long; Congressman proposes a 3rd term for Trump

Thank you Pommer.. i remembered it because some thought it shocking or laughable and even suggested conspiracy.
It happened 5 months earlier than you predicted.

I find the notion proposterous on its face. otoh, since I've had the joy of interacting with Andy Ogles a few times; I'm not really too surprised at all.
Elsewhere I qualified my prediction saying that a Senator would suggest it…with the meaning that Representives have been known to make kooky suggestions from time-to-time.

Even if Trump fails securing a third term, he can remain in power through a more advisory type role via a JD Vance presidency.
Theres already enough Trump data out there to train up an AI who can do MAGA leadership forever.

The best [?] part of Ogles' idea is that it makes use of Trump's Grover Clevelandish status to prevent Obama or Bill Clinton from having a third term.
Or Bush. Believe it or not I didn't like having Bush as president.

MAGA for life!
I say give Trump a second term as the 47th president. So 2025 - 2033, and also have the age limit changed so that Barron can take his father's place as overlord the 48th president.

The leader of the party is trying to repeal the 14th amendment via executive order, not sure why this is any more surprising. When people show you who they are, believe them.

I have a better idea. With Canada and Greenland becoming the 51st and 52nd states of the United States, we should consider acquiring the United Kingdom. The Trump family could then move to Windsor Castle and became King of This Manifest Destiny. This approach allows us to preserve our constitution while maintaining the Trump family as our Heads of State.

Greenland dosen't have enough people to become a state.

But why stop with The United Kingdom? King of this world!

There are convincing arguments on both sides of the 14th amendment issue. We all know this going to wind up in the Supreme Court. It is an interpretation issue and not as cut and dry as many claim.

Greenland dosen't have enough people to become a state.
It’ll start off as a “holding colony” for when we don’t have anywhere to place our “illegal aliens”…they’ll go there. 15 million could be a “state” by 2050.

But why stop with The United Kingdom? King of this world!
The current King of this World is going to abdicate?

There isn't any "minimum requirement" of people to become a state.

Indeed, Greenland's population is only slightly less than Wyoming's population when it was admitted as a state in 1890 (Wyoming had 62,000 people, while Greenland has about 56,000). There might have been states with even lower populations at time of admission.

Which "convincing arguments" are there for allowing an executive order to amend the Constitution?
You are assuming the interpretation you believe is correct will stand. It is possible that may not be the case when it gets to the Supreme Court.

It really isn't about a different 'interpretation'. The Supreme Court can make any decision they want, regardless of what the Constitution says. There's nothing to stop them making arbitrary decisions.

Even if the SC doesn't simply make the decisions the Leader wants them to make, he'll just pack the court with sycophants.
