Why?

Presidents aren't nominating saints who did no wrong in their past.
Media personalities with second-rate experience and verified reports of spousal abuse and sexual harassment, not to mention his horrific ideas for the department, should not be hard to replace.
Trump wants Hegseth to head defense--and he wants to throw General Mille, a man with an impeccable record, in jail for his honesty and integrity.
The current president's judgment seems to need an extreme makeover.
He can do better than Hegseth.

Rubio was confirmed unanimously by the Senate on Monday.

Maybe the issue lies with the quality and expericne of the remaining nominees....

Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Cabinet Nominations

Joe only had Lloyd Austin confirmed by the 22nd, and only 3 in January, so things are moving right along.

Article II, section 2 of the Constitution gives the Senate responsibility for considering and confirming the President's executive and judicial nominations.

It's pretty rare that the left doesn't launch a smear campaign against whomever President Trump appoints *yawn*
Rubio didn't get one. Several of his cabinet picks from his first administration avoided it, too.

Six GOP senators vow to slow down Biden nominees to protest Trump's guilty verdict

Yawn, business as usual.

Senate Democrats work to delay speedy confirmation of Trump nominees

Washington — Senate Republicans are trudging through the process to confirm President Trump's picks for his Cabinet and top administration posts, facing delays by Democrats who are pushing back on their speedy approval.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on John Ratcliffe's nomination for CIA director, Kristi Noem's nomination for Homeland Security Secretary and Pete Hegseth's nomination for defense secretary on Tuesday. But Democrats forced procedural maneuvers to stall the nominations' consideration, prompting a tense scene on the Senate floor late Tuesday.
"Now we're not going to have a vote today, and apparently we're not going to have a vote tomorrow," Republican Sen. Tom Cotton said after Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy objected to a time agreement that would have allowed the Senate to vote on Ratcliffe's nomination Tuesday night. "Which means I hope nobody's making any plans for the weekend."
Outrage!!!!!

Every Senator should be horrified at the ever expanding revelations about Hegseth.
Ethics first, politics second.

I agree. No other Secretary of Defense has been as unqualified as Hegseth in my lifetime. However, Democrats need to choose wisely when to stand on principle and when to compromise. Hegseth's confirmation is nearly certain, and Democrats can't stop it.

These actions indicate that Democrats may be engaged in procedural obstruction and inefficiency. While the Democratic base might support these senators' efforts, independent and moderate voters are generally not interested in such symbolic gestures. They seek effective governance from both parties.

Actually, leave it at "independent and moderate voters are generally not interested." It seems most could care less about obstruction by one party in Congress -- it is the norm. If they actually cared about obstruction by Congress, they would not have voted Republican in 2024, or Democrat in 2020. In fact, I'd claim that there are a huge number of Americans who see obstruction as a positive and not a negative.

You have a point.

Obstruction is pointless unless it has a purpose. If a bill needs altering to benefit Americans, obstruction can be justified. Blocking a harmful bill to prevent its passage is also acceptable.

In this situation, it appears to be merely delaying the inevitable. Pete H is expected to become Secretary of Defense within a few weeks. The actions of the Democrats suggest that they aim to oppose President Trump regardless of the circumstances.

Repent = to turn from unbelief and sin to belief and obedience.

And Hegseth is now a believer in Jesus Christ. . .or did you not know that?
Like, just now? Did he promise to be a good Christian if he's confirmed like he did with his drinking problem?

And Trump calls himself a Christian.

You'll pardon the skepticism of high ranking Republicans claiming they are christian given their history perhaps.

Personally, I'm not overly worried about his sexual dalliances.

I think his rather vengeful retributive outlook (at least in language) on how he'll fill his position is a FAR clearer picture on how he views Christ's teachings.

Are you saying he was a Christian when he had his drinking problem?
