I would likely suggest more but cannot without more knowledge of the girl and her family. I would suggest the above at least.
Since we have limited information on the motivations of what transpired. I wonder if this was not the motivation of the parents desire to avoid embarrassment or maintain a certain "image". This could be true if the parent feels like they've failed in some biblical instruction or worried about what others might think, to save face. Unfortunately it's not uncommon in religious settings.

Notice I meant a church sponsored baby shower. If someone wants to throw her one outside the church that is another matter.
Just meant that the church shouldn't sponsor or condone it anymore than they should if a married church member got a women other than his wife pregnant.
Not us. We love little babies and would welcome them both.

Her sin was fornication, not being pregnant.

The goal IMO should be to help the girl see the error of her ways, leading to repentance and hopefully some degree of restoration.
Yep. And we do that through the Gospel, not through humiliating her.
There are enough unwed, confused, hell-bound young mothers in the world without the church adding more to the fire by not trying to do anything other than punish the unwed young mothers we find in our midst.
How arrogant to think it's our place to punish her, when the Bible says Christ has already taken our punishment.
Perhaps you could share the verse you believe says we're to punish people.

You might also want to take a look at Jesus' parable of the Pharisee And The Tax Collector.

In case you missed it in all my other posts, I am not in favor of humiliating her or punishing her, I am in favor of getting her counsel, mentoring, repentance and restoring etc in a loving path while recognizing the sin in a way that does not lead others to think it is ok.

I'm not against what this Church did and if the woman is a true Christian she will weather her feelings and stay as a Christian. I don't believe in conforming Christian moral standards to the moral standards of modern society is the solution.
I do agree that Christians cannot conform to modern moral standards.

In my opinion, the pastor could have handled it differently.
