  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Amen! Very true! But are we sharing more of our surplus with the needy, or trying to get the next best car with it? I can't speak on an individual basis. I can on a national.
But it's pretty much a question to each individual. Whereas you appear to be broad brushing the majority of Chistians as being selfish sluggards.

This is a where I have lived for many years. It was built as a cheap hotel in 1917. It features very small rooms only equipped with a small sink. And I drive a dented up 25 year old Toyota.

Does this make me more godly?

Godliness vs worldliness.
When I think of that, I look at a comparison of the spiritual system in the world vs the spirituality God gifted us from His own nature, the trinity.

But the video seems to focus on people pleasing by "not looking too rich"

I haven't seen many honest questions. Rather antagonism. :) But is you have any honest questions I will gladly answer.
Calling someone dishonest and antagonistic, is rather antagonistic, don't you think?

The majority of America "Christians" are worldly. I did not say they where sluggards. One doesn't afford an expensive house without work. But they seek earthly, rather than heavenly things.

If that's how you see it... I don't know what to say. :) That's not even 25 percent of what is dealt with in the video.

Thank you.

So since it is a progressive momentum, this must be the point

Our time,
our abilities,
our money,
our strength-
are all to be laid upon the altar.

Sounds like a pastor who wants everyone's money and free labor.

I think this idea is already sufficiently integrated into the modern church.
He's speaking of a symbolic alter, before the LORD. Not an alter in a church. :) There's nothing in the context to indicate he's looking for a pay raise.

Well, instead of giving offerings to a church, just give directly to the poor.

No need for a middle man.

I am reminded of

He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given. (Proverbs 19:17)

I'm going to make a bit of a statement. If anyone has honest concerns, I will gladly speak with them! :) But a lot of this has been going on:

"We compromise and shuffle and make excuses... we pare down truth, or palliate error, or extenuate sin"

I'm not going to answer the sarcasm and needling anymore:

"Answer not a fool according to his folly,
lest you be like him yourself." Proverbs 26:4

Agreed! And this goes far above monetary offerings. How many of us can say we truly live both parts of the pure and undefiled religion James speaks of?
