One thing that I see being repeated her writings over and over is the idea that sickness impairs spiritual and moral discernment. I don’t know where she’s getting this idea from. She seems to constantly keep pushing this idea that if a person is not in absolute perfect health then that are incapable of adhering to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, they’re incapable of making moral judgments, and they’re unable to understand the scriptures correctly. This isn’t taught anywhere in the Bible. She seems to think that anyone who isn’t keeping her “reformed diet” is diseased and I can’t help but think what kind of diet did Paul have when he was in prison writing his epistles? I feel like this is a big piece of evidence against this claim that she keeps making.
Another thing that I’ve noticed is that her writings seem to have almost a rebuking vibe to them. She often refers to people in her own congregation who aren’t adhering to what she’s teaching. The tone of her writings almost seems to suggest that her congregation was having a hard time accepting her teachings and her objective seems to be trying to convince them of the importance of what she’s teaching. And from what I see in the SDA today they’re not actually adhering to what she wrote either. Many have adopted the Levitican dietary laws instead of Ellen White’s reformed diet and have completely abandoned her reformed dress code.
