  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, off we go

Our debt .... likened unto a credit card .... at some point in time the "credit card" debt becomes unmanagable ... paying off huge debt is not a easy task .... we (America) have been living on borrowed money for quite some time ... it won't be easy to get it under control. How that is pursued remains to be seen. No doubt there is significant government waste and lack of accountability transparency in spending ... it would seem to me this should be their first avenue to pursue (wasteful spending). Ending the wars and ending the mass migration are other areas that can significantly reduce spending. Government spending must be reduced .... there's a lot for them to consider.
Trump will NOT permit this on his watch. He and his political heirs will want the good feels come midterm elections. Austerity is not the recipe for that.

It's like telling your wife no more manicures while you are trying to pay off her credit cards.
Someone stole one of my wife's credit cards a few years ago. I didn't report it as whoever took it was spending a lot less than she was.

Why should we be subsidizing sick people?

Millions at risk of losing health insurance subsidies after Trump's victory

Subsidies to buy insurance from the Affordable Care Act marketplaces are set to expire at the end of 2025. If they're not extended, coverage could become unaffordable for many.

The subsidies — which expire at the end of 2025 — came out of the 2021 American Rescue Plan, [which] also broadened the number of people eligible for subsidies, extending them to many in the middle class. Trump and Republicans have already signaled they don’t support [extending the subsidies], said Chris Meekins, a health policy research analyst at the investment firm Raymond James.

Since the 2021 subsidies went into effect, enrollment in ACA plans with reduced payments doubled, particularly in Southern red states, said Cynthia Cox, the director of the program on the ACA at KFF, a nonpartisan health care policy research group.

“And what we’re looking at is significant increases in what people pay for their premiums. It’s going to average more than 75% increase. For some people, it will be more than double.”

--

And if they'd rather not pay those premiums, then what's it to me? Are there no emergency rooms?

I help to support those establishments: they cost enough: and those who are badly off must go there.

And if they can't or won't, then they had better suffer the consequences, and decrease the surplus population.

Trump's team is preparing executive orders on energy and climate

They include withdrawing the US from the Paris Climate agreement — something Trump first announced in June 2017 and promised to do once again throughout his 2024 campaign — slashing government jobs and offices dedicated to cutting pollution in poor communities, and downsizing national monuments in order to increasing drilling on public lands, the sources said.

i wonder how many Leopards ate my face stories and how quickly we will be hearing them.

‘We warned you,’ Arab Americans in Michigan tell Kamala Harris

Activist Adam Abusalah said part of the reason why Harris lost was her decision to side with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the expense of alienating the Democratic base – Arab and Muslim Americans as well as young people and progressives.

Ali Alfarjalla, a 32-year-old Iraqi American real estate agent in Dearborn, said that for all his flaws, Trump represents a change from the Biden-Harris administration that has been unflinchingly supporting the Israeli assault on Gaza and Lebanon.

“We have to work more to make sure our issues are heard – to stop the genocide in Gaza, stop the invasion of south Lebanon, and let Palestine have its own state. We’re hopeful about that."

Netanyahu Says He and Trump ‘See Eye to Eye,’ as Israel Bombards Lebanon and Gaza

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — Israeli strikes killed dozens of people including children on Sunday in Lebanon and isolated northern Gaza, as the world watched for signs of how the U.S. election might affect the wars between Israel and Iranian-backed militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he has spoken three times with Donald Trump since Tuesday’s election and they “see eye-to-eye regarding the Iranian threat and all of its components.”

The Israeli airstrike in Lebanon killed at least 23 people, including seven children, in Aalmat village north of Beirut, far from the areas in the east and south where Hezbollah has a major presence. There was no Israeli evacuation warning.

In northern Gaza, an Israeli strike on a home sheltering displaced people in the urban refugee camp of Jabaliya killed at least 17 people, including nine women, according to Dr. Fadel Naim, director of Al-Ahly Hospital in Gaza City.

Wow, that is really odd. Trump has made it no secret that he supports Israel. Probably stronger that Harris. So.i don't know how they justify supporting Trump on that account. It seems.to me rhere had to.have been other reasons for it.

A majority of them actually voted for Jill Stein, which makes more sense as a protest vote. Both major parties are going to 'support genocide' so I can't vote for either of them. Probably explains why Trump lawyers and GOP PACs were helping the Stein campaign.

Most Michigan Muslims voted for Jill Stein, followed by Trump, exit poll suggests

For a minute there I thought we were back in 2022 and you were talking about those who chose not to get vaccinated. Talk about deja vu!

Not that it really mattered. Even if all of the votes for Stein would have gone to Harris, she still would have lost Michigan by over 32,000 votes.

That was me, not the OP. But yes, I think that particular Michigan Muslim (and those like him/her) does qualify for the Leopards Eating Faces Party karma the OP suggested.

People who don't know about the Leopards Eating Faces Party are more likely to vote for it.

ok - I looked it up.

yeah, I get it

The "leopards ate my face" meme refers to voters who come to regret their votes after they find themselves personally affected by the policies of the person they voted for. Notably, the joke is that the politics of that person were always clear, and the people who voted for them simply refused to believe them.
Yup that would explain why so many minorities left their party and voted for Trump - the Dem's were always clear what they thought about them and they simply refused to believe them until the Biden/Harris fiasco stepped up and slapped them real hard.

Do you think Obama talking down to black men had a role to play in it?
