  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's only the names of those involved and it causes no problem whatsoever. In fact, I'm not really sure why just the names are redacted. We know who they are. They redact someone's name and insert P8 and then refer to P8 as the VP's Chief of Staff. And 'Georgia Governor P17'. CC1 (co-conspirator 1) is obviously Giuliani.

If you really can't work out who is who, here's a list: Who's Who in Jack Smith's Immunity Brief

That ain't an excuse for not reading it.
How about the fact that I could read through all 165 pages of that, have it reinforce my opinion of it, and it wouldn't change your mind about anything? IOW, a waste of time.

Then I don't expect to see any arguments from you for Trump against the charges because you haven't bothered to read the evidence. Notwithstanding that I really would have thought that you'd be personally interested in what the guy had done.

But you'd need to face the facts, of course.

If there was anything meaningful there, it would have been repeated on the news every night until they make sure everyone hears it. Just like Russia Russia Russia, and all that other misinformation that was repeated long after being debunked.

Don't worry. There'll be plenty about it when the brief is accepted. But once again, I recommend that you don't listen to details secondhand. Go to the source.

I finally got through listening to the whole interview. It was the typical Kamala Harris word salads that everyone has come to expect from her.

You've been accepting what you hear on the news about Trump, no matter what they say about him. So I hope you'll understand if I don't take your advice on sources.

It's your call. But the brief doesn't contain any opinion. Just facts. As you'd know if you read it.

Alternative facts, if the government's pattern is still being used.

Well, you can have no worthwhile opinion until you know what they are. Let me know when you have.

I've already heard it all.
Oh, and wasn't Jack's case thrown out already?

On Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump, ruling that Special Counsel Jack Smith was improperly appointed.

Massive inflation in other countries was caused in the same way -- more money chasing after fewer goods.
And the reason why there were fewer goods was, largely, covid. Not government spending exclusively, as you suggested earlier. So my point that covid played a role seems to hold.

Selling off the strategic oil reserve endangering our national security is not fiscal policy? And the act is about as effective as a bee-bee gun shot to drop an elephant. What else do you cite as Biden fiscal policy that brought down the inflation rate?
As I've said before, I'm not an economist, so I don't know all the ins and outs of economic policy, and I certainly can't speak intelligently about them, but I can see the results, and many do attribute those results to Biden's policies.

The facts are simple: when Biden took office, inflation was rising. It peaked around the summer of 2022, and then came down...and stayed down. Some, including many leading economists, attribute this to Biden's economic policies. You say otherwise. I don't know, maybe it's all just a coincidence.

But since Biden isn't running for office, his policies aren't the issue going forward. And a majority of economists seem to think that Harris' policies will be better than Trump's as regards inflation. If you disagree, I'll leave it to you and them to fight it out.

Hint: The major reason the rate of inflation was reduced is the Fed's reaction to the inflation caused by Biden with its monetary policy (not controlled by Biden).

Other countries have different situations to deal with. Which country specifically are you referring to?

Give credit where credit is due -- to the Fed.
I've never claimed to be an economist, and I've also said I'm trying to understand this. What I'm hearing, though, is you want to blame Biden for everything, and give him no credit whatsoever for anything. If I've missed something, feel free to elaborate.

I'm willing to accept that Biden's spending played a role in increasing inflation. I've said as much. But, your contention was that it was the ONLY factor, and that is what I've been disputing.

Drop your mic. As your posts are admittedly and shown to be ignorant regarding economics, leave the mic on the floor and pick up a book on macroeconomics or a book on money, credit and banking. To continue punching down is just not a good look for me.
I've stated, repeatedly, that I'm not an economist...and that I'm trying to learn....but I still think my point was made.

If you want to claim that Biden's spending is the sole and exclusive reason for massive inflation, then why has inflation gone down considerably since he took office?

You can call me "ignorant" all you like, I've never pretended to know more than I do, but that's not a substitute for addressing the points I have made.

-- A2SG, feel free to address them, rather than me personally......

Of course it does. Who you support gives us an indication of the moral standards you expect in candidates. Moral standards that you consider to be acceptable.
OK. Let's compare the two.

The choice is between:
An incompetent, witless sinner.
And a competent witty sinner.

Easy choice for me.

Posts which make vague accusations followed by retreating to memes rather than providing evidence supporting the claims must be convincing to someone, somewhere. I guess?

Only people infected with Covid and could not work affected the supply. Largely, government policies that caused people not infected to not work, eg., truck drivers at ports of entry, closed factories, etc., caused the supply shortages.
As I've said before, I'm not an economist, so I don't know all the ins and outs of economic policy ...
OK. The OP is about an interview with Harris and as I read the transcript the only economic issue discussed was Harris' report that 16 economists preferred her economic plan to Trump's. The signatories to the letter are largely biased in their support of Harris:

And so, we can leave Biden to the historians. Harris and Trump are now the choices and by next Tuesday (or so) the question of whose probable policies convinced voters to vote one way or the other will be known. Feel free to start a new thread on why that person won the election.

Right. So covid did affect inflation.

As I said.

I'm sure someone will.

Or at least something about how Trump's loss was due to cheating....again.

I've heard it all before, both in the news media and on this site. It doesn't interest me.
Like the "Russia, Russia ..." hoax signed by 51 intelligence officers on the Hunter laptop scandal.

Yeah this obsession with the words "Word Salad" is synonymous to the whole "Inconceivable!" line in Princess Bride movie. "Why do you keep saying that word? I don't think you know what that word means"

Either your understanding of the French preposition is deficient, or you agree with me. As your posts seem to be fairly intelligent, I'm going with the latter.
