  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hundreds of national security officials, ex-Cabinet members, Gold Star families endorse Trump

The evidence is the fact that there have been millions of illegal immigrants within the last few years.
Similar to the previous admin. If that means open borders, both candidates are the same on the issue.

But we all know that's not the actual definition of open borders, so it's all just meaningless word play designed to cause outrage in a less than critical audience.

During the Trump administration, the facts very clearly shows that there was MUCH less illegal immigration than what Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and DHS Mayorkas have willingly allowed to flow across our borders.

This is true mostly because of Title 42 (pandemic immigration restrictions).

So Biden, hands tied due to Republican obstructionists,

You do know that there were Democrats that refused to sign the bill too, right? Five Democrats and Bernie Sanders voted against the bill also.

That is not 100% correct. Even before the 2020 pandemic, massive illegal immigration was much less during the Trump Administration.

A calculated mistake. If it hadn't been bipartisan, it would have been more palatable to Democrats.
They probably should have drafted a more modest bill instead of depending on senators who weren't courageous enough to buck their party leader.

Changing to different false talking points when the previous ones were demonstrated to be failures isn't going to convince people these posts are worth anything.

I haven't changed to different talking points. I am pointing out facts that you appear to be dismissive of.

The original claim was that a certain number of illegal immigrants during a president's term means the borders were open. Changing the claim to the number being higher or lower than previous years meaning something is definitely changing stories.

Biden has been trying to pass tough bipartisan immigration legislation for a year, but Trump is blocking it.
These last twelve months of what Trump terms Open borders is on him.
If he cared about the alleged threats to you, he would want to end it immediately.
But instead he fear-mongers to get your votes for a problem he prefers to continue.
Both parties were playing political optics. Schumer only brought the bill to the floor for a vote to have a campaign talking point for the Democrats on how Trump had killed the bill. In truth, two of the 3 authors of the bill, James Lankford and Krysten Sinema voted against moving the bill forward because they said Schumer's vote was a stunt and not a serious attempt to craft a bill that would pass both the Senate and the House. There were also 6 Democrats that voted against moving the bill forward for various reasons. So to say that this bill would have passed if Trump hadn't spoken up is to state as fact a very nebulous hypothetical.

It is just bizarre to me to see Harris use this talking point because it admits that Trump as a private citizen has more power in the Senate than she does as VP and Senate Tie-breaking vote. I don't happen to think Trump does; but the talking point is based on that assumption.

Exactly. It's an... interesting strategy to claim that the reason immigration is such a problem is because a private citizen thwarted your amazing immigration bill that not even everyone in your own party voted for.

Of course, in reality we know that the Biden administration loosened immigration policies nearly 4 years ago at the beginning of their administration resulting in a quadrupling of arrivals.

But, that darn Trump!

It's easy for veterans (myself included) to support Trump - his streamlining our medical care in many cases was an answer to prayer.
