  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It’s not. Cop out when I have already poste my evidence but you can’t be bothered to go back through the posts. What will I gain? Will you reconsider? No.
You claimed there are two different versions and asked me which one I listened to. I said you'll have to post both for me to be able to tell you which one I listed to - which I will. Since I don't know what specific two versions you're talking about there's no way for me to locate them. Your cop-out seems to be declaring in advance that I'm absolutely definitely going to lie to you, so that's why you won't do it. So basically a cop-out in the form of character assassination.

If you want me to tell you which one of two videos you are talking about that I listed to, you're simply going to have to present the two that you are talking about.

Telling someone they're going to have to go on a search to answer a question you asked them makes no sense whatsoever.

I think this thread has gone a tad off track. Here's review of the OP artcle:

About 20 minutes into Harris' speech, a number of attendees were escorted out, while shouting "Jesus is Lord" at those around them.

Unfazed, Harris stopped her remarks and countered.

"Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally," she said. "No, I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street."

So it seems according to Harris Jesus is Lord is wrong at her rally and by extension her administration, but Jesus is Lord is right at a Trump rally and by extension his administration.

Harris administration: Jesus is Lord - NO.

Trump administration: Jesus is Lord - YES.

According to Kamala Harris. No surprise to me, but the clarification and declaration is appreciated.

It's the wrong candidate rally for being pro-life and saying Jesus is Lord. It seems to me that's pretty much been fully established, so it sems there's really nothing further to debate in this thread.
All that is established is that the heckler declared Jesus is Lord while being escorted out. I know lots of Harris supporters who declare Jesus as Lord.

Better go listen to the serial adulterer then who thinks God doesn't need to forgive him for anything.

I guess SOMEHOW he will leave you more...spiritually uplifted?

I'll opt to go listen to someone who has not decided to talk about Arnold Palmer's genitals or the ever uplifting Boy Scout Jamboree where the boys were lucky enough to hear about his orgies.

Is that rant supposed to refute what Harris said? To recap: According to the OP article it seems Harris basically said Jesus is Lord belongs with Trump, not with her rally/administration.

Well...they say trust in news media is at its lowest...

And yet here we are.

She probably believes that heckler blowhards belong at trumps gathering.

The underscored is conjecture. The op article does not say, nor even imply, that she was conveying that Jesus is or isn't with her rally or the Biden administration.

The article clearly quotes her as saying "Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally,". And also, "No, I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street."

Harris doesn't strike me as the type of politician that would use God's Name nor the Name of Jesus in vain.

No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

And it was hardly in vain. It revealed a lot which shows it to be by the Holy Spirit. In my opinion.

The context of 1 Corinthians 12:3 is speaking about when one hears and believes the Gospel, and is convinced through the Holy Spirit that Jesus is Lord.

It's not meant to imply that everyone who declares Jesus is Lord is being led by the Holy Spirit to do so.

Matthew 24:5
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The article didn't say "And also".
I never said it did. The "and also" is ME denoting that she is quoted saying two different sentences, neither of which are adequate to support your paraphrase as anything more than conjecture.

As I already showed in the above post #275 ---> The context of 1 Corinthians 12:3 is speaking about when one hears and believes the Gospel and is convinced through the Holy Spirit that Jesus is Lord.
And it was hardly in vain. It revealed a lot which shows it to be by the Holy Spirit. In my opinion.
I think the people declaring that Jesus is Lord were expressing their conviction that Jesus would not advocate for depriving the unborn of life. When the Holy Spirit reveals something, the people see and become convicted because He reasons within us by applying love others as you would want to be loved.

What Paul is saying 1 Corinthians 12:3 is that no one can confess that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. Confess as in truly believing it and meaning it.

By way of the scriptures you're appealing to, and saying the name of Jesus was used in vain, it seems you are claiming that Grant Beth and Luke Polaske who said Jesus is Lord at the Harris rally are false Christians who are purposely leading people astray. Can you back that up?

I can agree with that articulation.

Can you back that up to show that you yourself are not bearing false witness?
You're assuming too much here. I never claimed they are false Christians, and I would not try to back up what I never claimed.

This is what I said:

childeye 2 said:

ALSO from post #276: "I think the people declaring that Jesus is Lord were expressing their conviction that Jesus would not advocate for depriving the unborn of life."

Since you used verses pertaining to false Christ and Christians it seemed that was the direction you were going in.

Meaning what? That Grant Beth and Luke Polaske were using the name of Jesus in vain? Maybe if you were less cryptic I wouldn't have to guess at what you're saying/implying.
ALSO from post #276: "I think the people declaring that Jesus is Lord were expressing their conviction that Jesus would not advocate for depriving the unborn of life."
Looks like you're adding stuff on after I've read and replied. So I'll wait a while before replying from now on.

Here is the testimony of Grant Beth and Luke Polaske for the Christians calling them blowhards and accusing them of using the name of Jesus in vain:

Hmmm, The Holy Spirit tells me to love others as myself, and that I will be judged by what measure I use to judge others. Medical reasons being excluded, I believe those who seek to terminate an unwanted pregnancy are typically dealing with some form of fear. I would never think that those who seek abortions are intent on worshipping Satan any more than those who use some method of contraception to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Luke Polaske said "abortion is a sacrament of Satan".

But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Mark 8:33

Was Jesus being unloving towards Peter?

The worldly concept of Jesus is that he only said warm fuzzy stuff. And therefore Christains rebuking sin is unloving, goes against Matt 22:39 and so on.

If one is not serving Christ, they are by default serving Satan (or letting Satan work through them). Does abortion serve Christ?
