  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So it couldn’t possibly be that they actually think Jesus is Lord and used it that way, right?
It is evident that they were shouting to disrupt and disrespect. Again, they got what they came for.

You're being silly.

No, you.
How would she know they were at the wrong rally merely by saying Jesus is Lord? If all they said was Jesus is Lord then she had to be against the idea of it.
They were clearly not supporters of hers. They didn’t “say” so much as shout loudly “Lies, lies, lies!” while she was speaking.

If all they had done was merely to say anything, she wouldn’t have been able to hear them. Such a silly remark! Think about it, picture the noise of the crowd.

So you have a special ability where you can discern motives? Interesting.

Is inferring motives from actions a new thing for you?

It should seem a bit odd that a bunch of Christians can't (or won't) tell the difference between "publicly proclaiming Jesus is Lord" and merely being disruptive.

Unfortunately, it's pretty common.
The world hates it, considers it disruptive, and wants us to shut up about Jesus.

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Luke 6:22

No. But I offered an alternative, but it was dismissed because Daisy’s view was “evident”.

Try preaching the Gospel for a change instead of right-wing politics and see how that goes for you.

Yeah it's called witnessing. The world hates it, considers it disruptive, and wants us to shut up about Jesus.
No, it isn't called "witnessing." It's called being obnoxious.

Seriously, who looks at that and thinks "Yeah, that's convincing. That's the religion to which I want to convert!"? Nobody does. If a bunch of Muslims were in a crowd at a Trump rally and started shouting "allahu akbar," would your first thought be, "hmmm... I should visit my local mosque". Of course not.

The fact that so many Christians can't grasp this basic element of social interaction is part of the reason why they've been unable to expand their sphere of influence beyond the areas in which they already have a hegemony. "!!!Boo hoo, the world hates us!!!" No, the world doesn't hate you. The world is just sick of your refusal to listen to anybody else. Rather than this being an effective means of "witnessing", it's really just another manifestation of the evangelical right's juvenile authoritarianism that can't lure people with its message, so it resorts to forcing them to hear it.

Getting slapped for being a jerk is not "persecution for the sake of the gospel."

I actually removed "it's called witnessing" some time before your your reply. Maybe you should refresh the page a little more often.

That aside, as I said in another post, I hope from now on someone proclaims Jesus is Lord at every rally. It will be interesting to see how many Christians keep objecting to it.

@iluvatar5150 @RDKirk What is your opinion on 1 Corinthians 1:21?
The "foolishness" and "wisdom" in that passage are about the substance of the message, not the manner in which it is delivered. Nobody either in this thread or (that I'm aware of) at the rally took any issue with the claim "jesus is lord". All of the discussion here, and it seems pretty clear to me that the reaction at the rally as well, has been about the disruptive behavior.

So proclaiming Jesus is Lord is wrong and not good.

Ah, so it's my fault I didn't refresh the page and check for your edits in the 17 minutes between your hitting Post and mine?

No, if you choose poor wording, that's on you. If you wish to pull that back, you are more than welcome to do so. But it's not my fault you chose that wording and it's not my fault for not checking for revisions, though it's not surprising you'd try to pin that on me given your persistent refusal to distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate times/manners in which to proclaim one's faith. Both are forms of manipulative behavior.

How do you think he would respond then?

Based purely on how I've observed Trump's behavior over the years? I can imagine a scowl.

What, in your opinion which I am interested in hearing, are the steps which could have been taken to make the behavior non-disruptive?

You can honestly say that ^, about the 73 million Americans that voted for Trump in 2020?
Really?

Akita, you owe some of us here an apology, for falsely accusing us of a horrible sin.
It may not be intention on the part of many.

Just deceived by a distorted understanding of the Gospel, an understanding that supports "me first, us first". and a guy who validates our lowest nature.

Paul was beaten and stoned for being disruptive.
