A former ABC News political journalist says he believes a victory for former President Donald Trump in next month’s election could result in an unprecedented nationwide “mental health crisis.”

Mark Halperin, who now works at Newsmax and previously also worked for MSNBC and NBC News as both a journalist and political analyst, made the prediction in an episode of "The Tucker Carlson Show" in which he sounded the alarm about the potential psychological impact of a second Trump presidency.

Halperin said he believes that if Trump wins, it could lead to a profound shift within the Democratic Party, calling it "the greatest mental health crisis in the history of the country."

For me, this was a very eye-opening interview ....

Even Tucker was very surprised at what Halperin said he expected the Democratic response to be, to a Trump win.

I like how he says, “I think tens of millions of people will question their connection to the nation, their connection to other human beings, and their vision of the future for themselves and their children,” Halperin stated.

As if that's not already the case where MAGA supporters are labeled as the biggest threat to the country by the same person that would win the election if Trump loses. Not to mention how children are already taught from a young age to question their own identity as a boy/girl. Millennials are considered the hopeless generation, and Gen Y is considered the lost generation for a reason. Do we really want a continuation of that?

It's time for a change--and the current vice president getting an additional 4 to 8 years in the White House when she can't even answer simple questions about what she stands for (but only who she hates) is hardly a change.

I think persons in both parties will potentially face mental health challenges, with a loss. But I was surprised that Halperin singled out the Democrats.

I honestly haven't thought of Democrats as freaking out or suffering mental collapse with a loss. If the Democrats lose, I expect to see the usual things: rioting, chaos in the streets, burning down of buildings, looting, violence, lawlessness, etc. ... you know, the things we repeatedly see Democrats do when they're angry.

I am hearing no inkling of how Republicans will respond to a loss. But I do think it will be very hard to accept.

In 2020, 73 million Republicans practically turned the country upside down, with at least a thousand storming the capitol. Just learned Ted Cruz hid in a closet. Hawley ran for his life.

4 years later, many of them still need to get a grip on reality.

Reports of Democratic riots, like most rally talk, have been mostly exaggerated.

With a Trump loss, hopefully there will gradually be a return to discerning the truth.

I am sure you have been told this many times before, but your candidate will be like an earthquake, hurricane, flood, tornado, and forest fire hitting simultaneously.
To not cry would not be normal.

The US has had a mental health crisis since circa 2012 (Obama era, but also when social media began taking off), regardless of who wins, there will remain a crisis until America adopts psych wards and more communal forms of society. The roots of this crisis could go back even further, to the 1950s when state ran psychiatric hospitals began to close down. Now, not everyone needs to be thrown into a psych ward, but it should be an option for folks to voluntarily go to.

I don’t like Trump that much BY ANY MEANS, but I’d MUCH RATHER have him in office than Harris.

It’s a tough decision.
