Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris among Catholic voters in crucial swing states, according to the findings of a recent poll.

A new poll conducted by the National Catholic Reporter released Wednesday found that, among Catholic voters in seven “battleground states,” which were identified as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump held a lead.

The data was drawn from an online research study conducted by Mercury Analytics from Oct. 3-8 of 1,172 Catholic voters in seven swing states, with an overall margin of error of +/- 2.86% with a 95% confidence level.

Pope Francis advised Catholics to vote their consciences. He said both supported evils--and racism is also an "intrinsic" evil.

When he met the Trumps years ago the pictures of the always smiling Pope Francis clearly showed he was struggling to hide his antipathy.

I am glad there are Catholics like me who clearly understand the serious dangers to our world and the survival of our planet should Trump win. They are prayerful, discerning, and I believe prophetic.

Thank you, Pope Francis, for your prophetic voice.

Would Pope Francis endorse the pro-choice Democratic Party and the millions upon millions of abortions which the Democratic Party policies have been facilitating?

You can read his words. And remember, the supermajority who made the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 were Republican appointees.

Let's take a metaphor. Each tree in the forest is an evil. You see one. I see the forest.

Abortion is so primary in the U.S. where we are comfortable. The Pope sees the world. Climactic devastation. Desperate poverty. Genocide. War. Racism. Gun violence.

And a Republican Party with bad policy on almost every single one.

In 2016, Pope Francis said the Church should inform consciences, not replace them.

And in the eight years since, he has tried to inform consciences.

Laudato Si an indictment of western individualistic consumerist selfish values. Our selfishness can destroy the planet God gave us--and the poor are the greatest victims.

Say what you want...he said Catholics should vote their consciences. 45% of us are voting Democratic--despite abortion and because of a planet on the precipice.

You are doing the opposite.

I see that it is the policies of the progressive liberal Democratic Party that is currently causing now and also in the past vastly more damage to the people of the USA and also the foreign policies of the Democratic Party has allowed Iran to become much stronger than Iran was 4 years ago. I see that this world is not as safe as it was 4 years ago. The immoral child trafficking and human trafficking increasing in record numbers while the cartels enrich themselves through human smuggling and fentanyl trafficking. All of this is placed squarely upon the weakness and failures of the Democratic Party and the Joe Biden administration.

I see that many voters have fallen prey to the hyperbolic fear mongering they are exposed to.
Christians should lead the world to unity and love, not fear and hate.
The despots who resort to such tactics seek absolute control.

Neither would he endorse a party whose leader has been described as a dangerous fascist and worse by numerous former staffers--generals, statesmen, attorney General, UN ambassadors, diplomats, cabinet members.

Plus XII ruled under a fascist dictatorship. John Paul II under authoritarian Russian rule. Popes know firsthand the danger he poses to our planet.

I don’t think any Pope can endorse any party or candidate.

But notice he said, "both support evil. Use your conscience." Not, "vote pro-life while the world around you burns...."
You believe you are voting for the right reason, and I respect your right to do so.
Pope Francis has said others may vote differently for 100+ right reasons, and they should be respected as well.

Didn't Pope Francis condemn abortion, something which is sacred to democrats like yourself?

No, a vote for the most radically pro-infanticide candidate in US history does not deserve respect.

Doesn't Kamala Harris want to continue the Ukranian war at significant risk of escalation? How is she the saner choice when her pro war policy of expanding the American Empire risks WW3?

Why must some liberals assume that those who refuse to vote for the Democratic Party have "fallen prey to fear mongering"?
Because that's Trump's pitch--hate and fear. Historians note that is the method authoritarian dictators use to gain control. And scapegoats are needed.

Immigrants.
Haitian refugees.
The enemies from within (all who oppose his candidacy.)

I could certainly do the same, but instead I try to understand what cultural and environmental factors would lead people to support a dangerous threat to the free world.
Jonathan Haidt talks about factors that shape morality. It's been awhile but some people have an authoritarian framework--and others have other frameworks.
Haidt also says one frameworks isn't better than another...
But picking the wrong 'authority figure' is surely wrong.

That is absolutely NOT Trump's pitch. He is NOT pitching fear and hatred at all. I am sorry that you appear to believe too many lies about Donald Trump.

Harris? No, I don’t respect her for many reasons and will vote for Trump to keep her out of office.
