  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Witnessing post testimony with business cards

Hi, I shared my testimony here in the testimony forum on this site and it is on page 2 in that section now.

After sharing my testimony online I have taken this to next level and decided to make business cards to distribute to some people at church and I have so far distrubuted them to a few people in the street. I have even put some in some peoples doors.

I used a company that had religious and spiritual templates to make mine. I used vistaprint in the UK myself to print some business cards with the link to my testimony etc. People can go away and read my personal testimony in private.

I have thought about going to Speakers corner as well in Hyde Park in London and that is some way away from me and I am not certain at this point, but I am thinking about it. I am not really a public speaker, a short 1 minute scripted speech I might be able to do and give the cards out after and would likely order a few Bible’s for that to distribute also. No doubt posting this will help me to think about that as well.

This might give some people some ideas as well how they can witness post testimony also using something so simple like business cards or leaflets to further engage others into reading your testimony and bringing people to Christ.

Really love this idea! We did something vaguely a bit similar with some Christmas cards early in our missions in Greece on more small scale, it was a German or French company I think specializing in Christian themed messages. They had some way of selecting Bible verses in the language of interest, mixing them up on the cards in both paper and electronic form together with the specific info on the mission groups, for of to follow up with. It was a great, compact way of getting our communications out and reaching people. Good luck with this and thanks for spreading the knowledge on it.

Thank you, for me as well in my life ground work by others has been important and it in part led me to seek out my faith more at 16 years old. I was approached by other youths and heard their story and what they had to say. It was just what I needed at that time. I think the organisation could have been called Youth for Christ and they are still going. You can make personal selections on the street, those who feel you may speak to more and being called to do so perhaps.

You see some in action here. Who knows what will end up with them. May be someone may take one and it may help draw towards their path with God or the staff may see it as a violation and take them down. What happens beyond me putting them up is not my buisness. I have seen all sort of things there though. No contacts and no insults and people take them at their own will.
I think although some Christians will get abused in this line of work. Jesus though I think wanted to protect his disciples as well. Like telling when to withdraw when not welcomed where they go so they will not be abused and hurt. To me that is a good standard.

Who knows what I will do next.

I ended up witnessing today. Someone I live close to has issues with addictions. I feel more drawn to speak to those who are challenged with addictions/health/mental health challenges or who are disabled. Our story will resonate with some groups more than others. Although my story can speak to all Christians.
I went out without my phone but had a card in my bag. I saw the man in the chemist and thought right I have to give him a card. I saw him outside and went up to him and started speaking and gave him my card. Turns out he is a Christian as a well so that is great. He said he will read my testimony and I added a special link for him on Trudy Makepeace as he has different issues than myself. So far nobody has abused me doing this. Hopefully my story will be helpful to him strengthen him as the body of Christ that we are. He told me he just experienced a loss last week and I gave him my condolences.
