  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The adult film industry spoke out about the 2024 presidential race with a $100,000 ad campaign aimed at combating Project 2025 (which it claims includes proposals to ban pornography). Under the slogan "Hands Off My Porn," the controversial initiative seeks to mobilize younger voters in seven key states and persuade them to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the election.

The New York Times reported that 17 pornographic actors announced the launch of this ad campaign. They claim, without any basis, that conservatives are planning to ban pornography and jail involved adult film producers and actors. The ads will appear on popular porn sites in swing states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.

The goal: to influence the young male vote

The push to mobilize young males comes against a backdrop of Democratic desperation where polls show Kamala Harris trailing former President Donald Trump among male voters. The group behind "Hands Off My Porn" planned its strategy based on surveys and demographic data indicating that young men are some of the top consumers of online pornography. According to a study by the American Life Survey Center, 44% of men aged 18-29, and 57% of men aged 30-49, have viewed pornography in the past month.

Holly Randall, actress and pornographic film director, is featured in the campaign ad. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, she said that these types of attacks are not new but Project 2025 proposal represents an unprecedented threat.

"I have been in this industry for over 25 years and have witnessed many attacks on our industry, but the Project 2025 pornography ban is the most extreme proposal I have ever seen (...) Voters need to take that threat seriously. We cannot simply rely on the precedent that consuming pornography is legal and has been for a long time."

Project 2025 does not seek to prohibit pornography

Project 2025 is a conservative plan developed by the Heritage Foundation that seeks to implement policies aligned with conservative values should a Republican win the presidency in 2024. While the Project covers a wide range of issues such as immigration control and national security, among others, it does not explicitly mention a ban on pornography in its official documents.

What the plan does lay out is a focus on regulating, not banning, digital content and content that violates underlying conservative principles. The interpretation that the bill could lead to a ban on pornography comes from extremist sectors that fear stricter measures to control this issue that often leads to social problems.

Ah, the infamous Project 2025 that’s been debunked a million times. There is more problems being supported by the porn industry and the problems within that than a silly think tank project.

Friends of Kamala come in sordid shapes and sizes.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Porn encompasses real and fantasy depictions of adultery, incest, homosexuality, transgenderism, prostitution, fornication, ephebophilia, multi-party couplings, lesbianism, and just about any other form of pelvic activity, normal or abnormal, that you can name. It also encompasses forms of sexual exploitation of vulnerable women, whether it be due to poverty, addiction, slavery, or naivete.

Harris is from San Francisco, one of the "gay" capitals of the world, meaning that unrestricted sexual activity is one of the things she has championed in the past, and still does, by her own admission. She also champions abortion, which is one way that some people in the porn industry get rid of the results of their activities. She also champions open borders and amnesty of all kinds for people brought into the country illegally, and that would certainly include young Hispanic and Asian women brought into places like California by human traffickers and (for all practical intents and purposes) sold or drugged into prostitution and pornography.

Why wouldn't the porn industry support her? She's been instrumental in aiding and abetting them since the first day of her career.

Do you mean to say that if it wasn't for porn we would be less inclined to waste so much time on message boards and be spending a lot more time with our families and local communities?
Ok,

I see what you did there.....

There IS such a thing as subliminal messaging. There have been countless instances of it that have been discovered. The most famous example is probably the Farah Faucett wavy hair that spells out 'sex'. Then there were the frames inserted in movies at the movie theaters telling you to buy popcorn. I don't know how big a deal it is now, but it existed and I doubt it went away.

But there is something about just plain screens. I did an experiment with my newborn daughter 38 years ago. Way before she could interpret what she was seeing on a CRT screen her gaze was drawn to the screen. I would turn and she would adjust to view that screen. I would turn again and she would follow the screen. I think I can generalize to say that we all focus in on screens when they are nearby. It's the medium that is addicting even before adding content.

There's more, but that in itself is enough for now.

I think there are many on message boards that are doing more than the average person in their lives than people realize. I think the question should be people on message boards that feel a need to play the devil’s advocate in every single post they make.

The porn industry supporting Kamala is being labeled as a false equivalent to "Republicans don't watch porn" though. This has nothing to do with who I vote for, but still.
Here are several more links:

There is a ton more sources to this campaign. I’m sure a lot of this has to do with age verification on these sites. They don’t like that. Why should they when there are sex trafficking victims, etc. used and been found in a lot of these videos. It’s a dirty business on many levels.

I would be fine with porn being banned though

Oh, yeah Riles,

I mean,

If it wasn't true, could such a scandalous and shameful thing be posted on a heavily moderated Christian oriented bulletin board system ?
Surely it would be removed, it were an obvious lie.

And how could it be spotted as an obvious lie ? Well, someone might post an article about something then happened 30 years ago and say "See ?"
While completely ignoring that Harris has held elected positions in most of the last 25 years.

And I don't know how you sleep your way into an elected position.

It's all about black women and their perceived hypersexuality.

There, I said it out loud.

It's about racism, misogyny and the Cult of the 45th President.

(But, hey, dude, I'm just a devil's advocate)

I was very, very young in the 90s so I really can't comment about the advent of the internet.

How did porn create the chat system?

All I could find was the WebChat Broadcasting System, which wasn't pornographic.

Or maybe I'm overthinking everything?

You do have a good point, though. There are some....really awful people (think Harvey Weinstein) who actually produced wonderful art and other media despite their failings.
Hang on, I'll get you a link to WBS...

Sorry dude, they shut it down in 2023. That hurt's.

Anyway, it was a bulletin board system like we're using, but not nearly as cool and with a lot less feature.

The porn outfits made bulletin board systems better to make chatting with the porn creators a better and easier experience. Think OnlyFans.

Saying Weinstein had failing is charitable. The man is pig. BUT, he did create a lot of good media. Of course, the women who started in it suffered badly.

btw I didn't know you were so young, for some reason I thought you were an old guy like me.

All sorts of people watch porn, sadly. Women and men, old and young, married and single and divorced, pastors, fathers and mothers, teachers, scout masters, Republicans, Democrats, independents. It's epidemic. I am so happy to have been spared that soul sucking experience and addiction. Because it is an addiction for most, with Dopamine surges in the brain reinforcing the need to watch more. It is an unspoken epidemic even in churches.

So 'Republicans don't watch porn' isn't a thing. It's just that some Republicans are willing to try to limit porn and the incredible damage it does to our society. The porn industry knows who they should support.

This topic although derailed from the intent of the op always reminds me of the ‘pound of flesh‘ phrase. It perfectly describes the porn industry and those that look at it as a right.
