Media would be roasting President Trump if HE were in office and FEMA was this unprepared to respond

FEMA underfunded.

Trump points to a flaw in the response this current crisis

But the Media seems to be giving Biden a pass.

Imagine all the left coast "demonstrators" that Soros would be importing into states like Georgia and S. Carolina if a Republican were in office as POTUS.

This is one good reason to be thankful that we have a democrat in office. -- no one is ginning up riots and race-baiting when the response is slow, by flying in protesters from outside the state to burn and loot. So then we have a natural disaster , a few mistakes being made, and very little "flown in to make trouble" protestors, no morning to evening news denunciations of America etc.

Fema is broke? Gave money to?? migrants? Ukraine?

Slow to respond? FEMA was being mobilized before the storm even made landfall.

Approved Emergency Declarations Before Landfall

Friday September 27, 2024

Before Helene made landfall, the Governors of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina submitted emergency declaration requests that President Biden swiftly approved. These declarations authorized FEMA to provide assistance for emergency measures to save lives, protect property, public health and safety, and fund other emergency response measures. The Federal government proactively pre-positioned personnel and resources across the region before Hurricane Helene made landfall, including power restoration teams for temporary emergency power, search and rescue equipment, meals, water, generators, and equipment to assist communities and states with impacts from the storm.

At the President’s direction, before Helene made landfall, 1,500 Federal personnel were deployed to the region.

Urban Search and Rescue has deployed a total of 14 teams (940 personnel) to affected states. In Florida, eight teams are positioned to respond, and all are equipped with Swift Water Rescue Capabilities. In Georgia, two teams with water capability have been deployed to support rescue operations. In North Carolina, four teams all equipped with Swift Water Rescue Capabilities are in place.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has two teams prepositioned to provide temporary emergency power, with additional personnel deployed and other are prepared to deploy if needed.

The Federal government pre-staged more than 2.7 million meals, 1.6 million liters of water, 50,000 tarps, 10,000 cots, and 20,000 blankets in the region to support sheltering needs in impacted communities.

FEMA pre-positioned tanker trucks with 70,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 40,000 gallons of gasoline to surge to impacted communities once the storm has passed to help alleviate any fuel shortages.

Prior to the storm, FEMA also helped source hundreds of ambulances to assist with the movement of any patients out of impacted hospitals or other facilities.

Helene makes unlikely friends of Republican swing-state governors and Biden

President Joe Biden has made phone calls to all governors of the states affected by Hurricane Helene in a bipartisan approach that is typical of most presidents during times of national disaster.

He has spoken with Govs. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Roy Cooper (D-NC), Henry McMaster (R-SC), and Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said he missed Biden’s call. He has received praise from Republican governors about the federal government’s handling of the hurricane.

“I'm incredibly appreciative of the rapid response and the cooperation from the federal team at FEMA. I've been on the phone over the weekend with the senior FEMA administrator. The team has been deployed,” Youngkin said.

Biden approved major disaster declarations for Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, which will allow survivors to access relief funds and resources immediately.

“I just spoke — the president just called me yesterday afternoon. I missed him and called him right back. And he just said, ‘Hey, what do you need?’ And I told him, you know, we got what we need. We'll work through the federal process,”
[Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA)] said.

FEMA funds used for illegal migrant support -- to keep the influx of illegal immigration on track as Biden Admin continues to support it.

April 2024
"WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced $300 million in grants through the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which was authorized by Congress to support communities that are providing services to migrants. $275 million will be distributed in the first allocation, and the remaining $25 million will be allocated later in the year to accommodate evolving operational requirements. The initial funding will be available to 55 grant recipients for temporary shelter and other eligible costs associated with migrants awaiting the outcome of their immigration proceedings. Additionally, the Department is announcing $340.9 million through the Shelter and Services Program-Competitive grant program to be allocated before the end of this Fiscal Year.

Today’s announcement responds to feedback from recipients in terms of providing additional flexibilities and an opportunity for new recipients through the competitive program, while continuing to require budget submissions and review prior to releasing funds, which is standard practice at FEMA. It also builds on the support being provided to communities on the border and in the interior. Last year, more than $780 million awarded through SSP and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program – Humanitarian Awards (EFSP-H) funding in Fiscal Year 2023 which went to organizations and cities across the country. DHS also works to streamline and improve access to work permits for eligible noncitizens, including through the announcement last week of a temporary final rule to increase the automatic extension period for certain employment authorization documents to prevent a lapse for work-authorized individuals to be in the workforce, supporting local economies. ."

But then... inexplicably... 2024 had a Hurricane season that followed April.

Fema lacks funding to make it through Hurricane season 2024

And it was Republicans who voted against stop gap funding before the recent disaster!

The really ironic part is it is Republicans from the states hit by the Hurricane. No Democrat and no Republican from West of the Mississippi (or North of Tennessee and North Carolina) voted against funding.

Fema lacks funding to make it through Hurricane season 2024
President Biden has been pressing the Republican led congress to provide more funding for FEMA for over a year now to no avail.

In hurricane-torn Florida, Biden urges Congress to shore up emergency funding

09/02/2023

Speaking from one of Florida’s regions hardest hit by Hurricane Idalia, President Joe Biden called on Congress to quickly boost FEMA’s disaster fund budget that a series of natural disasters across the country has depleted.

FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell, who has become a face of the Biden administration’s response to natural disasters, has also pressed for Congress to boost funding.

“I want to stress that while immediate needs funding will ensure we can continue to respond to disasters, it is not a permanent solution,” Criswell said at a press briefing this week. “Congress must work with us on the supplemental request that the administration has made on behalf of FEMA.”

As he made remarks from Florida, flanked by state and local officials, Biden made an effort to characterize FEMA’s funding as a non-partisan issue. Gov. Ron DeSantis, notably, did not meet with Biden as he surveyed the hurricane’s damage in Florida on Saturday.

Stop gap funding for the government - but they did not dump more into FEMA after its 100's of millions were sent to provide for illegial immigration housing and support in April 2024.

They should have known that funding the back-door hemorrhaging of FEMA funds diverted in April 2024 in support of illegal immigration was a necessary evil to support for the sake of keeping FEMA solvent enough to provide for its actual mission regarding an actual Hurricane..

Someone "thinking" in April 2024 could easily see that dumping 100's of millions out of FEMA funds in April in support of illegal immigration was a pretty stupid thing to do , given that the Hurricane season had not yet started.

The programs do not support illegal immigration. The funds used for these programs represent less than 2% of FEMA's annual budget.

The Shelter and Services Program (SSP) is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). SSP provides financial support to non-federal entities that provide humanitarian services to noncitizen migrants following their release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In FY 2024, the total amount awarded under SSP-A is $300 million. Of that, $275 million is distributed in the first SSP-A NOFO and the remaining $25 million will be allocated later in the fiscal year.

That money was also appropriated by Congress, specifically for that use.

In MAGA world. the POTUS controls the spending and the Vice President has authority to issue executive orders...
Yeah during the VP debate where Vance kept talking about all the things VP Harris should have done I was wondering if the VP had so much power why anybody would want to be President.

The 300$Million FEMA spent in April 2024 appears to be where some of their funds went.

======================

The idea that the Biden/Harris admin has no responsibility for this gold-mine of funds sent to support illegal aliens under their administration - does not appear to be something that either Biden or Harris is willing to admit.

That so called "gold mine" was assigned to that purpose by Congress, so using it is in fact what they are supposed to be doing.
