  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As President Joe Biden's campaign seeks to rebound from his rough debate performance, there's been an effort to turn the attention to his opponent, Donald Trump, and his connection to something called Project 2025.

"Project 2025 will destroy America. Look it up," said Biden in a recent Instagram video.

It's not just Biden – the Democratic National Committee is launching a new billboard campaign urging voters to learn more about the project.

News 8 went through the docket that stretches over 900 pages, to see what's in it – and what's not.

Project 2025 has become a bit of a call to action for the Republican Party. The 900-page political playbook is hand-crafted by conservative political leaders to make a possible trump transition as smooth as possible by hitting the ground running — with executive orders and policies.

"Project 2025" is actually just a nickname; the full title is "Mandate for Leadership 2025: The Conservative Promise."

The project consists of a few major goals outlined in their mission statement.

  1. Centralize power in the executive branch, i.e., the president.
  2. Dismantle the administrative state
  3. Defend the nation's sovereignty and borders
  4. Secure God-given individual rights — to live freely
Some of the proposals include putting the Federal Justice Department entirely under the president's control.
******************************

“Think tanks do think tank stuff. They come up with ideas. They say things, I, look, I like Heritage Foundation, I agree with some of the things they stand for," Rubio said on an appearance on CNN's State of the Union. "I've seen plenty of write-ups, frankly, not just from left-wing think tanks, but from columnists and others who are opinion writers who have actually come up with crazy ideas that are now the policies of the United States under Joe Biden. Things like, I don't know, letting people into our country and releasing them, because there's no danger."

The document states these proposed actions would all be taken within 180 days of a potential presidential inauguration, Jan. 20, 2025, hence the name "Project 2025." Again – Donald Trump has not openly accepted this plan as his own, so this is not a sure thing even in the event Trump is elected.

The entire docket is available to read for free at project2025.org.

It has been made out to be this absolute horror project by people who are really practiced at propaganda. Oh horror. Groupthink double plus ungood.

This news report gave some details and much of it I like. Not sure about consolidating the Justice Department under the presidency, but frankly the Justice Department and the FBI seem to have a political agenda at the moment that seems quite woke. If Project 2025 intends for reining that in, all to the good. If it would make the Justice Department MORE political (hard to do at this point) I'd frown.

People love to demonize and work themselves up into a lather. There are better things to do imo.

Me too, I believe Trump does too. This and the fact that of much of P-2025 mirrors his own policy, which has me wondering why with such an undertaking, an effort to strike a version between them could not have taken place?

I read it and it seems more like a manifesto that a dictator would engage, though I do agree with some of its intents.

Think tank stuff spewing whatever crosses their minds. Kind of like children with a Christmas list to Santa. See what sticks.

I am a little confused. I looked up wgal on media bias sites, of course, and found that it was quite unbiased. Thank you for using an unbiased website.

But the problem lies with the follow up post--inferring, or implying, that it is an extension of wgal. I knew right away it wasn't, because unbiased sites never use the word "deep state." That's conservative-talk designed to provoke fear, even when, or almost always when there's absolutely nothing to fear at all.

The second post comes from Project 2025 itself. If I want a critique of Project 2025, I don't want some thumbnail portrait from the group that composed it. As soon as I saw the words "deep state," I knew it had no credibility.

I have read pretty extensively about Project 2025, and have read some of the sections completely. I don't believe their self-critique for a minute.

Thank you for setting the record straight.

My point about this - is that it is "Heritage Foundation" rather than "Donald Trump's Agenda 47".

As a private group - Heritage can have any agenda that they wish. Trump cannot be held accountable for everything that someone who is not a Democrat - says or promotes or does. We are seeing a lot of "marketing gimmicks" by those groups opposing Trump these days.

Actually, the document seems like a tamer, more subdued and politically correct version of what he says at rallies and speeches. Believe it or not, Project 2025 would be a marginal improvement from Trump.
