In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The traditional blue zones are basically all based on wrong data. Even their supposed diets were manipulated to look plant based.

Real blue zones are Hong Kong, Switzerland, Andorra, Scandinavia, Spain, Singapore, Japan, South Korea...

High economical development, clean living, high quality food, active (limited car usage) life style.

I think extreme longevity is mainly due to genetics. Plenty of people who were vegans and exercised a lot etc, died in their 80s. Whereas others who lead an average lifestyle made it into their 90s and 100s.

One woman named Jeanne Calment who lived to be 122, smoked most of her life and imbibed to the end

I remember her because of a story I read. In France there's a custom that if you agree to take care of an elderly person, you inherit all their stuff. A man made this deal with her when she was in her 90s, and she outlived him. His children had to continue caring for her.

I always wonder how would such people with extraordinary genetics look like and how long would they live if they lived as healthily as possible and even utilized the anti-aging procedures and treatments we have today.

However, its difficult to say it was because of some genetic quirk. Maybe it was something protective she ate or did (like caloric restriction?)... its hard to know for sure.

She ate 2 pounds of chocolate per week and apparently had only one drop of wine and one cigarette per day.

It’s mind boggling.

Sadly she outlived her children.
