  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians worship the same God?

Good question.

Some will. It is up to God.
Yes, it is up to God, but does the following not tell us what will happen to those who reject Jesus and the gospel and never accept it? I don't see any exceptions being given here:

2 Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

You say "some will", as in some Jews, Muslims and Buddhists who rejected Christ and the gospel will have eternal life. How? It doesn't look to me that Jesus will be accepting of anyone who rejected Him and His gospel.

It depends on what is rejected and what is accepted. There are many nominal "Christians" who reject Christ and his gospel.
There are many non-Christians who live it to the full.

These days "Christianity" is a tarnished identity due to religious imperialism.

The gospel is associated, with having the Spirit of God in you, is not a philosophy.

Yes, and the spirit can be in anyone.

You can't say a non christian live the gospel to the full, sorry maybe i misunderstand you but that doesn't make sense.
To become a christian you need to be 'born again' alive with the spirit of God, and follow Jesus.

Christ is inclusive, not exclusive. He reads the heart.

Yes He does read the heart, but He's not all-inclusive. He said:

“14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (Joh 3:14-15 NKJV)

So He includes those who believe in Him.

My concern is that many Christians take and use scripture to condemn others. Lets let God be the judge.

(Your message is totally different to the one from you about which I had e-mail confirmation. If you changed your message, that's fine, but if not, what has happened to the one where you asked about the meaning of "believe in Him"?)

Anyway, I fully agree with you that it is totally wrong to use scripture (whether the verse I quoted, or any other passage) to condemn others. As Christians, we have to recognise that in ourselves we are sinners, and it is only by God's grace that we are saved.

Yes, I changed it. Upon reflection I thought it did not contribute to the discussion.
I am only beginning to appreciate the wide variety of places people are coming from and life settings.
While Judeo-Christian scripture may mean everything to us, to others it is just another collection of 'Holy" texts along side their own.

And, quite often, many people do not recognize Christ in their own scripture.

Another major way to know the God Christians worship is "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Matt 28:19).
By this definition, Jews and Christians worship different gods.
