  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm still wondering about all of those species of which 99% are now extinct. It they all were represented on the Ark, that would have been only 6000 years ago. T-Rex would have walked the earth recently. In my way of thinking, it makes God out to be less than honest to fake the time when T-Rex walked the Earth. But also the mass-extinction that would have immediately followed the opening of the gate to the Ark would have been beyond anything we can imagine. Why even put them into the Ark in the first place if mass-extinction was in the cards? None of this makes any sense to me.

None of this makes any sense to me.

Science creates mental blocks that its followers can't get around.

This thread is a prime example.

No, very true. But since the idea is an idea that has no basis in reality nor in the Bible itself, it can be dismissed out of hand easily.
Sure you can dismiss it if you want to.

I can and will. As I said, embedded age has no scientific or Biblical basis to it, so it's incredibly easy to dismiss.
What do you mean by “embedded age”? The Bible gives the age of the earth but I’m not sure what you mean when you say “embedded age”.

He doesn't know.

Embedded age means "maturity without history."

When God created Adam, He created an adult man, not a baby. Adam was mature, but he had no history.
Amen, and he was married to the most beautiful woman in the world.

So what this all boils down to is people can’t believe the Bible, right?

Not at all, since there is a difference between 'believing the Bible' and 'believing in serious extra-Biblical views that are not talked about in the Bible nor even mentioned in the Bible in any way shape or form'.
It's 100% the latter.

When God created Adam, He created an adult man, not a baby. Adam was mature, but he had no history.

That is indeed the Genesis story, yes.

But the Genesis story also does not say "In the Beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth, and he did so in such a way that both have 14.5 billion years of age and history in them, even though they've only existed for 6000 years".

The latter is the sticking point.

Try and pay attention to what is actually be discussed.

Why, in 4004 BC, would the Bible say the earth has existed for 6000 years?

That would mean the earth was created in 10,004 BC.

... that is a very good point, but I really couldn't think of another example that wouldn't have just been a whole wall of text.
