  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the race for the White House, Vice President Kamala Harris leads among Catholic voters over former President Donald Trump, aided by a significant gender gap, while the economy is the most dominant issue in the election.

Vice President Kamala Harris leads among Catholic voters over former president Donald Trump, according to the findings of a new EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research survey two months away from the presidential election.

The poll, conducted from Aug. 28-30, surveyed 1,000 Catholics and has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

Catholic voters, like most of the electorate, consider the economy by far the most pressing issue facing the country and oppose transgender surgeries for minors and transgender males competing in women’s sports. They are divided on the question of who should set policy on abortion, U.S. support for Ukraine, and Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.

The findings also reveal a significant gender gap among Catholic voters, while Trump is currently receiving support from 30% of Catholic Latinos. According to the findings, 50% of Catholic voters currently support Harris for president while 43% support Trump and 6% are undecided. Harris is also ahead of Trump among Catholic Latino voters, leading the former president 60% to 30% overall but with 9% still undecided. This is important given the growing size and influence of Latinos in American Catholicism.

I express doubt in such poll. Many Catholics will actually adapt a middle of the road approach on abortion & that appears to be where Trump agrees. The only way to do this issue is the center. It has gone on for so long that the nation is too polarized. So it is best left to the states & they can reflect their own cultures. Hopefully they can make a middle of the road approach to balance both sides. The remaining Catholics are strongly pro-life. I can tell you too that Italian men are not crazy about abortion & are not the type to place their faith in politicians.

Not with *THIS* Catholic voter, she doesn't.

I will vote for my next-door neighbor's dog's left hind foot before I will vote for Kamala Harris.

What has gone wrong? :(
Unfortunately, one of the things, it appears to me, is that the media is being successful in convincing many people that Harris is a great candidate and that she should be the next president. Those of us who are informed voters recognize the lies and propaganda that is presently being heavily dispensed by the media, but those less-informed apparently are not.

This week, Fr. Ripperger did an interview on 'U.S. Grace Force'. I caught it last nite. It is a very serious interview, about the upcoming election. Fr. Ripperger discusses things like voting for 'the lesser of the two evils', the battle between good and evil that is going on, and he spends alot of time talking about communism. He sees this as the election to determine if we are going to become a communist nation. (So do I.)

But the point of the interview was to share a prayer of consecration of the election, a prayer he wrote and recommends that Catholics begin praying daily.

If you or anyone is interested, here is a link to the interview, and the prayer.
(The prayer is posted on YouTube in the show notes under the video.)

You're absolutely right---and speaking of the media, I ran across this cartoon on Facebook; I think it's fairly accurate, all things considered. (Note: if you're not a fan of The X-Files, you won't get it. But for those who are...) :)

I think the Democrats running things actually do think so.
I hope the majority of us are not.

But their 'M.O.' appears to be: "If you repeat a lie often enough it becomes the truth"*

Yep. They always accuse the other side of what they're doing themselves, and they take credit for what the other side has done, provided that what was done works. For example, Biden (and now Kamala) are trumpeting at how many jobs they've produced and how great they've made the economy.

They tanked the economy. Trump had given the country an economic standard we hadn't seen in 35 years---high employment, low prices, livable wages. When Stumblin' Joe took over, it all went right straight into the dumper. And now, Kamala is caterwauling about the great economy she and Joe created.

They are masters of appropriation, gaslighting, half-truthing, and outright, bald-faced lying.

I'm gonna take a guess:

  • Project 2025 and it's little brother Agenda 47 are REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY unpopular.
  • J D Vance
  • Trump is becoming unintelligible. (Whether you want to admit it or not - he is obviously showing signs of dementia. And, while I am not a health professional, I have more than my share of experience with dementia - so do a lot of other people)
  • The constant, ongoing, all go - no stop, daily news cycle chaos is exhausting. (and, let's face it, it's been going on for 9 years now)
  • 34+ indictments that are not going away.
  • Have you seen him lately - he looks like he's going to faint most of the time.

On top of that, Walz is just plain likeable and Harris isn't afraid of him. This makes for a bad combination with a thread worn, one trick pony candidate.

(But, Riles, really, what do I know?)

I don't care, and it doesn't matter to me. There is no way in hell, heaven, or earth that I will vote for Kamala Harris, under any circumstances whatsoever. I would vote for a typhoid colony before I would vote for Kamala Harris. Or any other Democrat, for that matter.

I don't think Trump is ideal; but voting for Kamala Harris instead of Trump is like voting for Adolf Hitler instead of Barry Goldwater. Sure, one isn't perfect. But the other is an unthinkable, hideous disaster.

Exactly. I couldn't agree more.

And you are not exaggerating, in your comparison of Harris to a Hitler.
So many uninformed voters really do not know what the Democrats have planned for America.
They would do well to revisit the history of Nazi Germany, before voting for Harris or any Democrat.
