Let a bit of time pass ( a few days to cool off no more) then go see him to talk it over privately one on one and talk it over;

Matthew 18:15 in the King James Version (KJV) states:

"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother."

In this case you made the mistake, apologize profusely, make it right and try to get your friend back.
