  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Gen 4:7 ...If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, "sin" lieth at the door.

Most commentators say that "SIN" is a metaphorical creature or evil desire waiting to jump on you because you "doest not well".

However what if the other common translation of this word "sin" is a sin-offering and just like God provided a Ram in the thicket for Abrahams sacrifice (Gen 22:13) He also provided a sacrifice for Cain, if he would just go get it?

I think the interpretation gives God more glory because He still attempted to save Cain.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire (H8669) shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

teshuqah = H8669 = desire (also used of a beast desiring to devour)

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire (H8669) , and thou shalt rule over him.

Paul describes his struggles with the flesh in terms as if the sins were active;

Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

What's the relation of the woman?

The Sin-Offering is obedient to Cain as Eve is to Adam. Cain did not have to work for the sin-offering, it was not part of his labour. Cain did not accept it.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
