Why is the word of God compared to a two edged sword ?
What is soul exactly ?
What is spirit exactly ?
Why is joint and marrow mentioned ?

Regarding soul, when we read the stories of the rich men and larzarus that died and Near death experience, the soul is something that keeps existing for eternity after we die, some say the soul is our conscience that keep existing after death.
If we die and become souls, where is our spirit ?

12For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Bro, I made a devotional on this exact verse. It is old, from May 2024, so it is not as good as my newer devotionals from July and beyond, but here it is. My devotional does not describe marrow, but it does talk about how the truth may sometimes hurt, but can make us better.

Excerpt from devotional: The passages in Hebrews 4:12 and Proverbs 20:30 emphasize that the word of God is living and active, able to penetrate deep into our souls and reveal our thoughts and intentions. This penetrating truth can sometimes sting or hurt as it exposes areas of our lives that need healing or growth.

Bible verse mentions Kill the soul, destroy the soul, so guess the soul dont have to be eternal if God decides to kill or destroy the soul, so does this mean that the soul dont have to suffer eternally in hell if God decided to destroy the soul ?

Thing is the word of God if we study it and ponder/meditate about it, it will make us aware of what we are doing wrong and what need to change. For example someone who fornicates will realise it is a sin after studying word of God and this behavior must change. The word of God is like a tool/standard to evaluate ourselves, what is wrong, what is right. Atheist don't have a uniform tool/standard to self evaluate or they copy some rules from christianity and other religions to live by for example do not murder or steal etc. Some atheist dont choose to adopt those rules/standard so they steal and murder. Some fornicate, do orgy, homosex, swinging and other type of sin, think it is ok by their own standard, as long there is consent, but the word of God says otherwise, it is not ok.

Thing is if Atheist really believed that God doesnt exist and after death there is no life no more then every humans can choose to adopt their own standard/rules to live by, their is no right and wrong, why should a group of humans listen to the rules/standards of another group of humans, so that's why some choose to murder for example drugslord or dictators killing the competition, serial killer killing for fun. Atheism will lead to a sick society.

All we must do is try to convert the atheists. We live in some dark times, brother. Reading 1 and 2 Timothy and Matthew 24 will discuss what is happening on in the world right now.

My thoughts...
I follow the triconomist view of body, soul and spirit. The body being our flesh, the soul being our intellect and our spirit that connects with God and is separated from the body and soul upon death.

1) Why is the word of God compared to a two edged sword ?
It cuts through the soul and spirit in other words, it takes both the intellect and the spiritual essence of a person to know the truth to be saved and in Him.

What is soul exactly ?

Why is joint and marrow mentioned ?
This could represent the core or foundation of a person's being. Possibly connected to the nourishement spoken of in Proverbs 3.
We come to the knowledge of the Gospel by hearing first then faith. This type of message is recognized in the core being of a person.
Or it could simply mean the flesh.
