  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I propose that we allow the American people themselves the ability and the right to determine for themselves who is telling truth and lies.
We already do and many prefer to believe lies.

because they've got such a good track record on that subject...

It certainly can be if the debate is structured as such.
Debate moderators, just like anyone else in the media that calls themselves journalists, should not be placing their thumb on the scale in order to influence any election.

We already do and many prefer to believe lies.
Nevertheless, no matter who a person decides to vote for, they should be allowed to make up their minds for themselves without the biased influence of biased journalists and moderators.

Moderators should not be biased but should also hold both candidates to the truth.

Pointing out somebody lied isn't bias.

It is if one doesn't do it fairly on both sides, and it is if what the moderator thinks is a lie really is not a lie.

To be fair Mr trump is world renowned for his telling of lies. Having a list of the ones he normally trots out is just good preparation.
Did Harris lie? If so, then she is a liar.

Article is older but interesting

China has the most to lose with a Trump presidency and they do have financial ties via Disney to ABC.

Just always interesting how financial ties do appear to track with bias directionally in China's benefit.

Just trying to figure out the new rules now that we've thrown all morality out the window...
You should be clear if you want to defraud and/or improperly influence some election officials, hide hush money payments to your girlfriend so as to not tank your campaign, spread a bunch of bigotry and hate, run a fraudulent for-profit "university", or run a business that affords foreign agents the ability to line your pockets while you're in office.

This video taped declaration clearly shows she purjured herself under oath.

She should be charged because that's a crime, and the case thrown out with prejudice.

I wasn't remembering this come up during the debate.

That's nice. I didn't know we were talking about her.

That's what it looked like the comment I replied to was talking about. If you don't want independent conclusions as to what is being said be more clear.

I also pointed out I hadn't realized this was included in the debate, but I could be wrong, I fully admit I was at the time fairly shocked at the lies being spewed forth by both Kamala and her handler's... Oops, sorry, debate moderators who thought they were in the debate themselves.

Have you ever seen a presidential debate prior to the capture of our institutions? They were very different.

It might be enlightening for people to look at an older presidential debate.

Really? Which of these apply to Stormy?
  • Defraud and/or improperly influence some election officials

If you don't want independent conclusions as to what is being said

Conclusions arrived at independently are fine, but generally, conclusions ought not be independent of the subject at hand.

be more clear.
I gave five characteristics of Person A. You claim to have inferred that I was talking about Person B, about which zero of the characteristics apply. How should I be more clear? Should I go to six characteristics? Seven? Ten?

I also pointed out I hadn't realized this was included in the debate, but I could be wrong,

I still don't understand what point you're trying to make here.

I fully admit I was at the time fairly shocked at the lies being spewed forth by both Kamala and her handler's... Oops, sorry, debate moderators who thought they were in the debate themselves.

All Trump had to do was not spout nonsense he saw "on television" and he would've been fine.

Have you ever seen a presidential debate prior to the CCP capture of our institutions? They were very different.
Yeah, they used to have two people who tried to act mature, instead of just one.

ABC News’ Linsey Davis, one of two moderators for last week’s presidential debate, admitted to the Los Angeles Times that the plan was only to fact-check former President Donald Trump, and not Vice President Kamala Harris.
No she didn't. From your own link:

'the decision to attempt to correct the candidates'...

That's plural. Both of them.

Edit: I see that it's already been pointed out by @iluvatar5150.

I propose that we allow the American people themselves the ability and the right to determine for themselves who is telling truth and lies. That is NOT the job of a debate moderator.
A debate moderator would always be biased with their own political persuasion.
