  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This song reminds me that no matter how altruistic I feel in my good deeds there is always some sin in what I am doing.

1 John 1:8
"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

The point is, that sin is in us. It is part of us. It is part of our nature.

So this song reminds me that I am just "black stained glass," that is, the light goes through the black stained glass as if a colored by me which is black and the light is the Holy Spirit working through me.

There was a time when I would speak like I was there
Under the light of absolution and repair
But here in the fallout I can see where I went wrong
Playing Judas in the dark under my song

Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways

Through black stained-glass
All my purities pale under the veil
Of black stained-glass
Black stained-glass

There was a fire when I was young that took my life
And now I am left just praying death would take me twice

Where is the peace that I once heard would follow grace?
All of the holes within my heart go separate ways

Through black stained-glass
All my purities pale under the veil
Of black stained-glass
Black stained-glass

And I won't justify this dark and light in one
For all deception said and done
Please don't cast me out for learning to be numb
And for the wreck that I've become

Through black stained-glass
All my purities pale under the veil
Of black stained-glass
Black stained-glass

This is lyrically a powerful song. I would have liked it more if the musical instruments were not mostly acoustical.

It is kinda a solemn theme so it makes sense. Does not seem like an "upity" song to me.

I do like some songs that have slow moving beats. I think this song could have had an appropriate solemn theme even if Demon Hunter (an outstanding band) had used slow, easy listening beats with an electric guitar.

It could be more complex. I agree with that. But it still fits the mood they were looking for here.
