It's been nearly two months since Kamala Harris came in as the relief candidate for the Democrats, and she has finally decided to put some policies on her campaign website.

Didn't you know that undocumented immigrants can't get bank accounts because they don't have Social Security numbers?

If they don't have bank accounts they can't have a credit rating.

If they don't have a credit rating they can't buy a house.

Re: the $25,000: The $25,000 won't raise home prices. A house is only worth what people are willing to pay. And that will be based on demand. If more down payment money raises the "demand" for homes, home prices might go up for starter homes, which is where the "demand" will be. But it's not a cause and effect in itself.

The $6,000 child tax credit will certainly be a better way to insure that the children of working parents will be able to see their children are adequately cared for. A whole lot better than trying to persuade Grandma to quit her job to watch her grandchildren full time. I would estimate that most grandparents of young children are usually in their 50's. Perhaps in their early 60's. They are still working--and under the Republican plan of raising the retirement age to age 70, they are likely to be working till they are 70.

They can't quit or take leaves of absence from their jobs the way Vance's mother-in-law, a Phd professor, could take a sabbatical year. In addition, most working parents couldn't afford to make up for the grandparents' loss of income the way someone who had been a venture capitalist could.

I appreciate Vance's input on informing Americans how millionaire power couples could get their well-educated professional parents to provide childcare for a few years, but it's just not relevant to average Americans.

There are a couple of banks where you can open an account with just an ID. Chase comes to mind. Maybe Wells Fargo. Maybe a local bank.

As I pointed out in another thread today, Trump’s platform also promises support to first time homebuyers. I wonder how Trump manages to avoid the inflationary pressures they fear will plague Harris’ plan.

I wonder why the Democratic Party is now adopting Republican platforms?

Is it an admission of the dismal failure of the past 4 years?

Or are they so out of ideas they're literally stealing them from the competition?
