  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yeah, that's exactly how it works. Politicians do for those that support them (with money-wink, wink).

I guess there are caps on how much one individual can give, as there should be. But just imagine thinking that's a good idea. There should be more limits on how much people can give.
So politicians put aside their own agenda to follow the agenda of their biggest contributor? Or does it really come out as the politician's agenda is already aliened with the contributor's agenda?

Put another way, is Harris not going to do something you want her to do, but would do it if you paid her enough? Like if Musk offered Harris a billion dollars to do what he wants from Trump, she'd do it? If that's the case, then it doesn't matter who wins.

It's a clear sign the economy is doing well, since people have disposable cash.
What indication is there that it's disposable cash? What about all those people we hear about who give away their life savings to a particular cause/person?

I was commenting on the foolishness of being excited that one person is providing the bulk of support for Trump. Maybe you disagree. I think the larger point here is that Trump is a horrible person and a terrible president. Maybe you disagree with that, too. But to just keep things on topic, it's sad that's all the money he has raised, very sad.

I just said Trump supporters probably aren't contributing as much as they would if he was as needy as Harris.

Harris has not done a tit for tat deal regarding votes.

However, Trump has. Trump did beg the oil men to donate to him and in return, he is will make policies to please them.

Former President Donald Trump asked oil industry executives last month to donate $1 billion to aid his campaign to retake the White House, three people familiar with the conversation told POLITICO — a request that campaign finance experts said appeared troubling but is probably legal.
The request, first reported Thursday by The Washington Post, occurred during a meeting of industry executives at the former president’s home in Palm Beach, Florida.
The oil industry has a long list of policy actions it would want Trump to take, including dismantling parts of President Joe Biden’s green agenda and rolling back pollution regulations that threaten to crimp their profits. As POLITICO reported Wednesday, oil executives are also preparing some highly specific requests for Trump, including executive orders they hope he would sign if reelected.

Trump is pro oil of his own accord. So I doubt he's doing anything against his wishes to get donations from them or anyone else that will benefit from it. I doubt he's ever been pro green deal, and would prefer to roll it back.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign raised $361 million in August, more than triple what former President Donald Trump brought in and the most a presidential campaign has ever raised in a single month.
The campaign said it has $404 million in cash on hand, a total spread across the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and other joint fundraising committees.
Trump’s campaign announced Wednesday it raised $130 million in August and had $295 million cash on hand.
Wow! Lots of enthusiasm with this.
I hate it that money drives politics.

Then it looks like those who identify as democrats are the ones rich enough to throw it at kamala.
No wonder she thinks things are going so great with the economy if her followers are willing to waste it on her.
