  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The findings of a new EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research survey shed light on the spiritual health of adult Catholic U.S. citizens and reveal consistently concerning indicators of low Mass attendance, low belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and sporadic (though growing) participation in the sacrament of confession.

The survey was conducted from Aug. 28–30 among 1,000 Catholics with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

According to the survey, 31% of American Catholics attend Mass once a week, 16% once or twice a month, 32% a few times a year, and 9% once a year. Twelve percent attend Mass daily or more than once a week.

Frequent Mass attendance was significant among younger generations. Catholics under the age of 40 attend Mass more frequently than older Catholics, with 17% of 18- to 29-year-olds and 22% of 30- to 39-year-olds attending daily or more than once a week.

So it should be no real surprise that Catholics prefer Harris to Trump and Sonski gets nary a mention. Harris Leads Trump Among Catholic Voters, Per EWTN News/RealClear Opinion Research Poll

Is it a mortal sin any more to not go to Sunday mass for reasons other than being sick? Like wanting to read the newspaper or watch a movie or go to a sporting event or a hike or something? If it' still a mortal sin then 57% of Catholics are in mortal sin. But then there are the Catholics that NEVER attend mass, so it's worse than that. It must have stopped being a mortal sin because nobody speaks that way any more, especially priests.

Thinking that a good Catholic can't vote for Kamala and maybe also can't vote for Trump, you would think there would be some sort of a clamor for somebody acceptable to run? Thinking that a good Catholic recognizes Christ in the Eucharist, then where have all the good Catholics gone and where did these other people come from?
