  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Might I suggest consulting "Popular Movies of the 1980s and '90s"?

Yeah that's probably what I'm missing... I don't do much popular television.

I'll try and watch the clip later.

Future reference, I don't have a lot of television knowledge. I didn't see much television growing up and I kept a good bit of that going in my life.

Its not smart to grant a lot of credence to what Putin says.
What Putin wants right now more than anything is a stop to western weapons support for Ukraine.

Its likely he actually prefers the candidate who offers that.

Actually Harris and Biden have done more for Russia than any other leaders in American history so I'm going to say it's probably legitimate...
I don't think you have any real awareness of the topic. Putin is more likely to say that Biden had done more *to* Russia than any other President than *for* Russia. Our leading exports to Russia are delivered by the Збройні сили України and explode on arrival.
If Putin wants to support what helps him he'll actually be supporting Harris.

If he wants to support a stable world where he remains towards the bottom he'll be supporting Trump.

If Putin is smart he'll be wanting to help Harris.
It's almost remarkable how you have all of these backward. Putin wants NATO weakened, Biden works to keep it together, Trump thinks the US should leave. Etc. Etc. Etc.
I think this is why "Russian propaganda" always manages to hurt the right and never the left - even though the left is full of Chinese spies. Notice how the left being surrounded by very real Chinese spies never manages to hurt their reputation in the media.
First propaganda and spying are quite different things. China and Russia do both. Propaganda should be suppressed and spies rooted out.
Yet Russians no one has ever seen always manages to get the right completely silenced.

Russian propaganda indeed.
I think you have been inadvertently reading too much of it.

No... The war in Ukraine has been a gift to Russia as far as strengthening their alliance with China and other countries allowing for a much more robust Russia than had previously existed.

This war was and still is Biden/Harris owned and Russia is actually now in a better position as a result of all that's come from it.

So, check for undermining ourselves and our ability for sanctioning Russia to positive effect. Very good if that was the plan, to strengthen our enemies position. They are aligning against us very nicely.

If I was Putin I would vote for Harris. That's who provides any benefits to Russia.

We previously said Biden was our preferred candidate. So now we will do as he said, we will support her,” Putin went on, referencing public remarks he made in February

“Second, she laughs so expressively and infectiously,” Putin said of Harris. “That means that she is doing well. Trump has imposed more sanctions on Russia than any president has imposed before, and if Harris is doing well, then perhaps she will refrain from doing this kind of thing.”

Does anyone seriously believe anything Mr Vald “of course those troops on the border are not for invading Ukraine” Putin says?

No... I've always believed he wants Harris in office, that's his best case scenario just like Biden was in 2020.

When you examine the facts it helps, facts usually gives a clear vision.
Which facts have you examined? You say you’ve always believed that; was that before or after you examined the facts?

Can you clarify which part supports your assertion?

The Ukraine war has provided real benefit to Russia in real time for the long term in their best interest.

If you read the article you can see the benefit.

All we ever needed to do with Russia was to maintain a status quo - that was it. Just a promise of no NATO bases there. This is the status quo we have had...

But for corporate greed we threw people into war like cannon fodder not caring what the results would be for America as a nation and a people, and really just not caring about the sure benefit it would provide Russia - because no one cares about the consequences to their actions anymore...

But I digress.

What does any of that have to do with your point about Mr Biden and Mrs Harris?

No... The war in Ukraine has been a gift to Russia as far as strengthening their alliance with China and other countries allowing for a much more robust Russia than had previously existed.
And it completely trashed Russia's economic and political relationships with all of Europe, the US, and US allies. China is the country they *must* be closer to because no one else of any economic strength or technological sophistication wants to deal with them
This war was and still is Biden/Harris owned and Russia is actually now in a better position as a result of all that's come from it.
The war is 100% Putin-owned. Biden did not cause the war. Russia has got rid of a lot of their worst criminals and made some extra room in their armored vehicle storage lots.
So, check for undermining ourselves and our ability for sanctioning Russia to positive effect. Very good if that was the plan, to strengthen our enemies position. They are aligning against us very nicely.

I have rarely met anyone this confused about geopolitics. Go ahead and say you prefer Putin or oppose Harris, but don't try selling us a bag of trash about the war strengthening Russia or that Harris is anything but opposed to Putin.

Not quite.

The article involves Putin speculating that Harris will impose
fewer sanctions against Russia, than Trump did.

Given the large number of economic sanctions that the international
community has levelled against Russia, it's hard to imagine that there
still exist a large number of new sanctions that COULD BE levelled
against Russia.

Beyond that, it is hard to imagine that anything that Putin says,
expresses his honest intent. Take, the Ukraine invasions....

For anyone thinking Putin "endorsed" Harris or prefers her here is a video some Russian commentators and Putin [Vladimir Vladomirovich as he is referred to by others in the clip] himself. The all think it is quite a lark (including VVP) to "endorse" Harris.

The whole video is worth watching, but I'll set you up for the last 1.5 minute:

Way back in ye-olden-days the “flat spare-tire” was the “No Cell-Service” of the ‘teens; but misinterpreting satire is way older. Be gentle, this happens on both sides.

It's not satire Solovyov in particular likes to go on rants promoting war crimes, conquest, and genocide. Here's just one example:
