  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I’m voting for Trump because he’s a white man.

I'm confused. In past interactions I recall you indicated that you were not white.

Those movements have blown out of proportion, and must be stopped, or reduced.
I vehemently disagree. People need access to reproductive health care and LGBT+ people should not be stigmatized for being.

Not all women support the pro choice movement, plenty of them are pro life. All of the Supreme Court justices when Roe V Wade passed in 1973 were in fact male….
Yes, you're correct.

We can agree to disagree, my sister/brother. :) I do agree that miscarriages need treatment, and that if mother and baby are both at extreme risk of dying, say > 50%, then an abortion might be a course of action to take in order to save at least one of the two lives. But unbridled abortion just to sacrifice a child for financial reasons or personal reasons, that's demonic, or at least, totally unethical. That is sacrifice to Mammon (greed).

Nobody is being denied reproductive health, and nobody is required to think of LGBTQ folks as normal.

They already have that, and people are reproducing all the time as a result.

and LGBT+ people should not be stigmatized for being.
The only stigmatizing they get is when they try to indoctrinate children with their perverted teachings.
If they want to teach what they do, they can do it in the confines of DVDs in the adult section of video rental stores where children won't have access to it.

and say no sex before marriage, cos that is how it has always been.
Really? That may be some Christian's ideal but it's certainly not always been like that in reality. That is naïve.

True, but if everyone kept sex until after marriage, we would probably have less abortions in our society, less unwanted children. For myself, I will wait until marriage to have children. In fact, given the state of the world, our burning climate and many wars going on, I would probably not want to have children. Plus, I have ADHD, some anxiety and mild Asperger syndrome/autism, so I do not want to give my kids a worse version of that.

Bro, we have to protect the unborn, cos those people in wombs can not vote, or make any political decisions. That is why I oppose abortion.

People make their own choices. If people want to have sex outside of marriage that’s their own decision. They can’t scream or cry if bad things happen (unwanted pregnancies, stds etc)

Although I completely agree, many people will argue there’s nothing wrong with pre marital sex with one or many partners as long as it’s consensual.

People don’t like controlling their passions.

It’s a fact of life.

People don’t like controlling their passions.

And people don't like being controlled by others. What you or I might consider a passion that needs to be disciplined will not be seen that way by others. Much of the culture war seems like paternalism. It infantalizes people, and in this country, freedom to live as one chooses is a big priority on both sides of the divide.

Almost every law (perhaps all) control somebody in some way. We are not free to live as we choose. There are always rails.

Who's doing this screaming or crying? Just use contraception and bang goes the std and unwanted pregnancy. I myself have had many sexual encounters with many people over the years with ne'er an std or unwanted pregnancy in sight.

If I was standing for office and someone told me that they voted for me because of my skin colour and my gender then I'd ask them why they thought that was more important than my policies.

You should ask them to stop voting entirely....

However, the answer to your question is pretty simple and rather well known since it's one of the few consistent beliefs on the US political left.

They would say that only someone of your race and gender could possibly understand and therefore address the very unique problems facing people of your race and gender (aka biological sex).

In other words....they're voting for a white man because they, as white men, are facing problems that only a white man can understand or hope to fix.

Now, you may say that no, that's untrue....and there's no reason at all to believe that white men face any problems that aren't faced by other races and communities or by women....and that any candidate has the potential to identify problems and solutions for anyone of any race and therefore, the idea that white men should vote for white men is as wrong as the idea that black women should vote for black women.

That answer though, would make you a Republican by default and a white supremacist to many on the left.
