That is interesting. It is good that you met your wife in college when working on your school newspaper. Boston sounds like a city in Western Europe, where it is better to take public transit.Yeah, I grew up in the city for my earlier years, and later on in a suburb, but after high school when I was living on my own, it was in the city. I worked for a few years, then eventually went on to college, Suffolk University. Best time of my life, met my future wife there, working on the school newspaper.
Living in Boston, a car is more of a hindrance than a benefit, I found. Not so much out where I am now, even though the T does run out my way, but it's the end of the line, so it would only benefit going inbound. I do miss public transportation sometimes, not having to deal with parking and, of course, more time to read. I find it difficult to read when driving to work...the red lights never last long enough.
-- A2SG, yeah, yeah, I'll go...just let me finish this chapter first!
Nice, that is crazy close. Ahh, I should travel to Boston one of these days. Maybe an East Coast tour, starting in Maine, then down to Philly or something, along this red line. NYC would be in the middle of that red line.Um, it's a lot closer than that. Literally, there's just the Charles River separating the two cities.

Boston is at the bottom of the photo, and across that bridge (The Mass. Ave bridge, once famously measured in Smoots) is Cambridge. That domed building to the right of the bridge is MIT.
-- A2SG, it's a nice city...you should visit sometime....
Drug testing is continuous in many workplaces.not the same thing...people lost jobs over it. Must lift over 50 and be drug free are usually BEFORE employment.
I found it much simpler to take the T anywhere I needed to go in the city. Plus, Boston is a very walkable city, not as spread out as LA or others. That is interesting. Journalism. I was editor of the school paper for a year as well. Since then, while I have written for a local paper or two here or there, I've mostly done something else, while pursuing my own writing. Oh, and spending way too much time on the internet. What did you major in at Suffolk University?
I will have to have some breakfast now, but I will think about going to Boston in the future. Seems enticing to me. Journalism is important, as there is a need for factual news in 2024. Hopefully, you can pursue your own writing, and share it with us on the forums one of these days. Talk later, brother.I found it much simpler to take the T anywhere I needed to go in the city. -- A2SG, the 'net tis truly a double edged sword...
Policies change. If you can’t abide by them, quit. If you refuse to expect to be fired.not the same thing...people lost jobs over it. Must lift over 50 and be drug free are usually BEFORE employment.
Could be. But I prefer to apply Hanlon's razor. No , just that she is lying about it.
Well, I have been sharing my writing here for a while now, I hope it's been appreciated. Or, at least tolerated.I will have to have some breakfast now, but I will think about going to Boston in the future. Seems enticing to me. Talk later, brother.Every city should have Boston's T system.
Could be. But I am skeptical that if elected some of her changes will remain and be acted upon. She may legitimately be changing her positions based on new information that she didn't know before, including public favorability of those positions. Happens an awful lot with politicians.
Sure but this is a vaccination. A mandatory vaccination.Drug testing is continuous in many workplaces.
Really? Getting fired because of a vaccination? It was never done before...at least in the Fed Gov but policies change...yes they sure do.Policies change. If you can’t abide by them, quit. If you refuse to expect to be fired.
Really?
Getting fired because of a vaccination?
In SOME jobs yes. This is the Fed Gov employee.Yes.
Vaccine mandates for employment are not new.
Again, if it’s unacceptable, quit.In SOME jobs yes. This is the Fed Gov employee.
When did the Biden administration have an electric vehicle mandate?
When was it her specific policy regarding electric vehicles rather than Biden's?
Here are Kamala's own words:
"Sales are up, driven by consumer demand. The auto industry is clearly moving toward electric.
We need to make the shift faster and make sure it is driven by the United States.
That means manufacturing millions of electric cars, trucks, and buses right here in our country. That means outfitting thousands of EV — elective vehicle — repair garages, just like this one. And it means installing a national network of EV chargers.
When we ask people what is the biggest barrier for them to buy an electric car, the answer is almost always: figuring out where and how to charge it.
People who live in apartments, for example, might not have a private driveway where they can install a plug. You heard the Secretary talk about that.
Well, when we install public chargers, in rural, urban, and suburban neighborhoods, we make it easier for people to go electric.
It’s that simple. It’s about being clear about what we need to get done and then to do it."

It's disturbing when politicians change their perceived positions in order to get elected.
"EVS or otherwise emissions-free by 2040"
- note "otherwise emissions-free" Not EV only

Here is a summary of the bill written by the Congressional Research Service.
Shown Here:Introduced in House (05/15/2019)Zero-Emission Vehicles Act of 2019This bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to establish a zero-emission passenger vehicle standard. Specifically, the bill sets a schedule for increasing the percentage of zero-emission vehicles a vehicle manufacturer delivers for sale, culminating in a requirement to sell only zero-emission vehicles from 2040 on. The bill also requires the EPA to establish a zero-emission vehicle credit program that approves one zero-emission vehicle credit for each zero-emission vehicle delivered for sale in the United States and partial credits for qualified electric vehicles based on the estimated proportion of the mileage driven on the battery.Manufacturers that fail to meet the minimum required percentage of zero-emission vehicle sales must submit to the EPA a quantity of zero-emission vehicle credits sufficient to offset the excess.Credits may also be sold, transferred, exchanged, or retired in certain circumstances. The bill imposes civil penalties for the failure to comply with zero-emission vehicle credit standards, with collected penalties being deposited into the Highway Trust Fund. After 2040, the EPA may issue injunctions on the manufacture of passenger vehicles other than zero-emission vehicles.
The bill is about the EPA setting standards. Not a mandate.
Regardless, most intelligent folks evolve or learn and adjust their view of what is possible or practical to do.
Honestly, this is making a mountain out of a molehill.
