  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The article wasn't talking about homosexual marriage. So any talk beyond what's in the article is off topic in my opinion. This is a Christian Website in a Christian News and Current Events forum. Talking about the article is kind of basic in this News and Current Events Forum. So that goes beyond reading OP headline and then immediately viscerally reacting to it. It seems like a lot of posters have their responses ready even before The OP posts it to the forum.

There were a lot of gaps in that article. What actually happened? What was really said and done behind the scenes who knows? But apparently some posters know a secret about this case that I don't know. I look at some of the responses after reading the article, and say "huh"
I wasnt talking about homosexual marriage. Or anybody's non-right to show their sexual urges or body parts in public. Yes, I believe that people should keep that stuff in the bedroom. I wasn't talking about sodomy. This is even off topic.

But that post seemed to hint that "being homosexual" (whatever that is) was worthy of people losing their constitutional rights. That is a slippery slope here in the United States. I was taken aback when I read that statement.

And BTW I couldn't get the post to quote in the normal way, so I had to manually do it.
I probably misunderstood you. My fault.

Have a good day

Don’t worry! The LGBT activists said their lifestyle and “relationships” won’t affect anyone!

What lies.

This needs to stop, now.
It does need to stop. They brainwash children and young people into thinking being LGBT is normal.

It won’t stop until Christ’s return. That’s just how it’s going to be.

That would be, thank goodness, wholly unenforceable. And considering the only people who may not practice it would be some lesbians, it would be pointless for the persecution purposes you’re advocating.
Over 300,000 gay men dead from AIDS in the United States alone and the LGBT community still screams it’s their right to sleep with as many partners as possible, whenever.

You’re right it’s unenforceable.

People are still going to find a way to harm themselves.

I agree but…I’m genuinely worried about what my 6 year old son might be taught in school.
Just keep him in the Lord's way and teach him right from wrong. It's all you can do.

The way I read the article, we know very few details. After the investigation is completed we should know more. I just cannot get too worked up over so little information.

It is interesting how the story prompted posts about using the power of the government to police sexual acts between consenting adults. To what lengths should the government be allowed to go in order to gather evidence? What is the actual goal of the laws? If it is to reduce sexual sin then why aren’t people proposing criminalizing immoral heterosexual behavior? Most people are straight so by pure numbers I would expect straight folks actually commit the majority of the sexual sin.

Some folks have mentioned sodomy laws, which of course did apply to heterosexual couples as well:

I personally don’t want a government that polices which sex acts consenting adults perform behind closed doors. To each their own.

I think those who support sodomy laws want the health of all individuals involved. of course, that's not possible. People will always find a way.

If anything, I think gay men should be banned for life for donating blood. Remember what happened to Ryan White? So sad.

What really makes me mad is that acceptance is being taught in our schools to our children in order to indoctrinate them into thinking that it is acceptable behavior. This is going to have a devastating impact on the next generation.
Agreed. That stuff should stay out of schools, and if we continue down this woke indoctrination route, schools in the 2020s will ruin future kids in the 2030s and beyond, and then the kids' children in the 2040s-2050s.

Matthew 18:6-7 (NIV): "If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!"

Yikes!! To take away basic constitutional rights because some one is a homosexual?
Voting is not a "basic constitutional right," contrary to popular belief. The 14th amendment says people can be prevented from voting for having participated in rebellion "or other crime."

It was sad - both his illness from a transfusion and his subsequent treatment after being diagnosed. Sadly, he was infected before we had blood tests available.

I would prefer to defer to medical professionals on the blood donation thing, since they would know the research and how to interpret it. And there are straight females with HIV as well; I know one, and of course the aids epidemic in Africa killed many such women.

Yup. It’s all too sad. It just affected homosexual men more, but anyone can get it.

Yep, it will. Verses in the bible talk about how things will get worse in the last days. We must rejoice that Jesus will return soon.

It’s sick. I think my son is too young to learn about these things right now, but I plan to teach him that relationships/marriage should only be between a man and a woman, and that one's gender is determined at birth, boys can’t be girls and vice versa.

Well, straight couples also engage in those sex acts and lesbians may not be doing that sex act, so using that as this deciding factor of morality is false.

As for the LGBTQA “screaming for the right to sleep with as many partners as possible,” that’s not what they’re screaming for nor is it want the rights movement is about. If that’s all you are able to distill from it, that’s a you issue.

And, frankly, it really is nobody’s business how many people somebody has sex with. The government shouldn’t legislate people’s sex lives. If somebody wants to have sex with 0, 1, 100, or 1,000 people, that’s their prerogative.

Yeah…and spread diseases in the process. How about monkeypox?

What about Mpox? The primary method of it spreading isn’t sexual contact, and if you’re worried about it then get the vaccine.

One can have sex with more than one partner and not get or spread STDs. Education is key.

That’s not entirely true. If you look at the statistics, the outbreak in 2022, 98% of those who caught monkeypox were gay or bisexual men.
