  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you want me to download the PDF onto the AI and run this through the artificial intelligence to summarize the main points of it? I could also run the Republican platform through the AI if you want, as well as a 3rd party platform. But only after I use the AI to make a devotional. :)

Artificial intelligence has a strength, and that is summarizing long PDFs.

You indicated Harris was short on specifics.
The platform was just voted on by the delegates, and you can look as thoroughly or casually as you like.
So nothing original from her. Got it.

We asked for Kamala’s platform.
As a servant-leader "for the people" her platform was put together by a committee of experts and voted on by the states' representatives at convention.
She did not dictate or micromanage its terms, although she shares their philosophy.
She is a model for what the leader of a democracy should be.

Sad that they officially support the dismemberment of the unborn in the womb.

“Democrats are committed to protecting and advancing reproductive health, rights, and justice. We believe unequivocally, like the majority of Americans, that every woman should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including safe and legal abortion. We will repeal the Title X domestic gag rule and restore federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which provides vital preventive and reproductive health care for millions of people, especially low-income people, and people of color, and LGBTQ+ people, including in underserved areas.”

Looks like I will have to vote 3rd party this year, cos I do not want to vote for a party that supports the demonic practice of unbridled abortion. I do not want my taxes to pay for murder.

Let’s say that there are three people, one liberal and two conservatives. The liberal votes for Democrat who supports abortion. The conservatives feel that they can’t for the Democrat because of the abortion thing, which they feel is important. But they can’t vote for the Republican because he’s not a great person. So they vote 3rd party who has zero chance of winning. And the Democrat wins. What does that do for their stance on abortion?

Ooh, I see your point. Luckily, there are millions of voters, so if I vote 3rd party, it will barely make a difference, unless everyone has the same 3rd party mindset as myself. So, this could be one in a few million chance of happening.

We live in the US, so we are free to vote for who we see fit. None of the two candidates seem fit, so I will have to go 3rd party, until the Republicans can put up a better candidate, or the Democrats become pro-life. Neither is happening in 2024, so 3rd party it is. A liberal guy told me that I am throwing away the vote, and giving it to Trump. Now, here, if I vote 3rd party, I am giving it to Kamala.

You see what centrists, pro-life conservative democrats and anti-Trump moderate Republicans have to deal with? We are stuck in the middle of two massive parties that do not stand for a moderate ideology.

You can claim to be pro-life, but if your vote means that the abortionists win, what good is your vote?

I do see that, but sometimes, I have to step down from voting, cos both candidates seem toxic for our country. In other words, darned if I vote 3rd party, darned if I vote left, darned if I vote right. For myself, voting 3rd party would leave the least searing on my consciousness.

During local elections, I vote Republican for judges and police (as in my state, folks get off Scott-free on a few hundred bucks bail, which is awful, cos then the criminals roam the streets and commit the same crime weeks later). For other local/state stuff such as mayors, I vote Democrat (for environment) or Republican (for better judicial stuff, and tough on crime) depending on stances, though I have only been through one mayoral election, I think.

Hammster, you should look instead for the good proposals and ideas your party might not support.
That's what I do. A bipartisan approach. What ideas could both parties accomplish together?
Immigration was one policy that was bipartisan and almost got passed.

There is no reason. The Dems want to facilitate the murder of the unborn. They could be great on every other issue and I would still oppose them.
