In her speech at a campaign event in Iowa at the time, Harris spoke about how as president, she would make sure that the government sets a fair market.​

She went on to say that companies that didn't comply would be stripped of federal funding in order to lower prices for drugs.​

"I will snatch their patent so that we will take over,” she said in the resurfaced video.​

So not only does she call for price controls - she wants to pull patents that the companies paid for, invested time and energy into developing

Yes.

They are talking about resurrecting a 44 year old law in order to use that law in a manner it's never been used before in the life of the existence of that law.

On it's face there are serious questions about using it in this way not to mention the serious affects it could have on future research and development: it could really put a stop to a lot of potential research and development which is why the American tax payers are generally okay with government grants for research and development.

Snatching patents to control prices will backfire. You have to let the market decide, and the deal with pharmaceutical companies has always been they get exclusive use and pricing for the first 20 years, high paying customers get to play the guinea pigs and after that it goes generic for the poor worldwide.

The government provides some grants to give some help out via the American tax payers, the wealthy give the company their due for their hard work and the net benefit in the end is for helping the poor both here as well as overseas.

The above is how Americans view the world really. It's an economic worldview. Everyone benefits this way and everyone compensated for their contributions. Kamala proposes to fundamentally change that.

The video began without any buildup or prelude. Without a context, it's malarkey.
I do know that drug companies play lots of tricks to get patents extended, "changing" the drug by adding an inert ingredient or changing a dosage size. Those extensions should never be granted...but politicians with lots of pharma donations think it's OK.

So, these companies get Federal funding. And they still want to make us pay more for medicine. And people have a problem. Because Kamala Harris wants these companies to stop ripping us off. Just like when Michelle Obama wanted healthy school lunches. And to teach kids to have healthy life styles. It seems like everything, that is good. We better get rid of.
