  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The importance of the Holy Spirit in prayer and in the Christian life.

Saint Paul points out that we cannot address the Father without the help of the Holy Spirit, who cries out within us (Galatians 4:6). Prayer should begin with an invocation to the Spirit, as it is essential to our relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit is essential to give life to the soul, grant peace, wisdom and love. Without His presence, we cannot truly be children of God. Furthermore, the gift of the Spirit is a divine gift that fills us with love and allows us to participate in the holiness of God.

The mission of the Holy Spirit is our sanctification, transforming us and bringing us closer to God. Through prayer, we can open ourselves to His action and receive His gifts, which include wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, strength, piety, and fear of God. Each of these gifts helps us live in accordance with divine principles and maintain an intimate relationship with God, avoiding sin and valuing his presence in our lives.

The Holy Spirit has helped me overcome my social disability, so now I can make friends easier.

How do you know you have the indwelling Holy Spirit?
Who are you replying to? Quoting someone would help.

Galatians 5:22-23 is how I know. I have several of these fruits, except patience.

How do you know you have the indwelling Holy Spirit?
All born again believers have His Holy Spirit. It is a promise from Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
John 14:3
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Blessings!

Just because the Bible says so?
Is the Bible our guarantee?

Jesus Christ of Nazareth said so.
I know the Holy Spirit dwells within me, but He is my guarantee for me. He is not your guarantee that He is in me for you. You can know the Spirit is in you by what you allow Him to do in and through you.
The Spirit knows what Jesus was trying to communicate to me, so if I want to know what Jesus was trying to get across for me, I need to know what the Spirit in me is trying to get across to me.
The "Bible" is not our assurance, but the indwelling Holy Spirit is our assurance (Guarantee).
If I say or do something right is it, me or the Spirit speaking and doing it through me?

Hmmmm,...... that's a good question, in fact, a really good question.

For me, I know I have The Holy Spirit because I sought after and received the filling of The Holy Spirit from GOD with the gifts operating afterwards. My experience is similar to the disciples in the book of Acts.

Without actually receiving Him after your born again experience,..... I don't consider a person to obtained Him. Scripture matters.

I don't think we have to actually "invoke" the Spirit, since as Christians we have likely already received Him. But yes, we address the Father through the Holy Spirit, who is essential in our relationship with God.

John 4.23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

Our individual levels of experience will vary although at a basic level ( I believe) it is the Spirit directing our conscience in keeping the Lord’s commandments. I believe what the Lord says in John 14:15-18 is the overall aspect of this that works on all levels for our individual state.

I believe the ultimate point is when our conscience is conformed to love as St. Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 1:5.

This is just my understanding not any claim of righteousness on my part. I need counsel over and over like St. John gives us in 1 John 2:1-29.

I don't understand this. How is it for me? It is strictly for the believer however, we, like me, benefit from the actions of a Holy Spirit filled disciple in Christ.

His Holy Spirit is not a puppet master. It is always you. His Holy Spirit guilds us in all truth and conviction. We choose our actions now with The Helper.

anyone and everyone.
"I do and can quench the Spirit at any time and go on my own."
Does anyone posting here know what the word "Holy" means?
Look it up in Strong's Bible Dictionary and Aramaic/Hebrew/Greek dictionary.
It basically means devotion.
BathSheba means devoted daughter and faithful daughter, daughter of an oath. It is almost the same of Sabbath. And Sabbath is the First Law for Aryan Christian Israel Peoples some of which YahShua (Christ) plans to receive as a wife with unspotted garments.
Add to that Yahveh, on Mount Sinai telling Israel what happens when they do not obey His Logic/Law/Word: "Those who hate you rule over you" Leviticus 26:17

Using the premise that Holy means Devoted or devotion to the Word, Logic and Law of our Maker, devotion also accumulates in anyone doing that by reading and studying the Creator's Word and conforming our minds, thoughts and actions thereto. YahShua said, "I am the vine...He that abides in Me, & I in him, brings forth much fruit, for without Me ye can do no nothing." John 15:4 & 5
If a man (nanner) loves Me, He keeps My Words and My Father loves him, and We come unto him and make our abode with him. John 14:23
He that has My Commandment and keeps them, he it is that loves Me, and he that loves Me is loved of My Father, and I love him and manifest Myself to him.
Yet a little while, and the world seeth Me no more, but ye see Me because I live, and You live also. Ioana (John)14:19
In verse 16-17 YahveShua calls the Comforter the Spirit of Truth. That Spirit of Truth is what the disciples were learning during their time with YahveShua. So, those who study His Word diligently seeking the Truth come to receive what folks call the Holy Spirit. It becomes part of them, as in dwelling in them.

Holy Spirit is not just an attitude, but Christ's replacement (a person) in all devout disciples.
