  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No true Scotsman fallacy example
Person 1: No Scotsman puts sugar in his porridge!
Person 2: But my friend Duncan likes sugar with his porridge.
Person 1: Yes, but no true Scotsman puts sugar in his porridge.
Spare me the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], True republicans stick to their Christian morals .Harris is pro abortion for starters. How is that sticking to your Christian morals?Hence they are not true republicans . How is that for your Scotsman fallacy?.

But TR apparently withheld some important information about Russian intentions in the negotiations, that cost the Japanese some territory as a result. He supported Japan against other Asian nations, but apparently not against European ones.
He held Caucasians as superior to Asians but held the Japanese as the superior race among Asians.
He also created a mess in the Philippines and was brutal against the Filipinos.

How is that for your Scotsman fallacy?.
Your confusion is a perfect example of it.

The "no true Scotsman" fallacy is based on "all those people are alike, and have to be the way I say" thinking.

Which, as you now see, is completely wrong.

Doesn't matter. Republicans who voted republican in the past are now moving to Harris.
I believe Harris will win and the nation will go into bankruptcy both financially and morally as a result.

As far as I'm concern, Christ is my center, not the government.

There is that thing about what's Caesar's and what's God's. Good advice, I think.

Doubt it, many will probably vote third party like people who voted for Ross Perot ( for ex.).

Ross rather blatantly ran to take down the republican party. Kennedy seems poised to do that to Trump.

RFK Jr. and the third-party effect are now hurting Trump

The dynamic has shifted with Kamala Harris atop the Democratic ticket. And Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — once elevated by Trump allies — is looking more like a significant liability for the GOP nominee.

Minnesota education plummeted under Democratic VP pick, former teacher Tim Walz’s leadership: critics

Wait. You're saying that educational achievement in Minnesota fell during the COVID-19 pandemic?

How could that have happened? Obviously, it's all Walz's fault!

Worse yet, Walz caused a drop in student achievement in states he didn't even govern!!!! :swoon:

Pandemic Prompts Historic Decline in Student Achievement on Nation’s Report Card

As grim as the declines in math and reading are, they were also widely expected given the academic setbacks as a result of interrupted learning during the coronavirus pandemic.

Trump's handlers are getting really, really desperate. It's getting to be fun to watch.

I honestly don't know any Republicans that are going to vote for her. They may sit this out or vote third party, but they are not going to vote for Harris.

Harris unrolls dozens of GOP endorsements

The campaign’s announcement comes alongside a slew of endorsements from Republicans, many of whom have been openly critical of former President Donald Trump.

The Harris campaign on Sunday unveiled more than two dozen endorsements from Republicans, including former governors, members of Congress and Trump administration officials.

Many of the endorsements came from politicians who were already openly critical of former President Donald Trump, including former Republican Gov. Bill Weld of Massachusetts; former Rep. Denver Riggleman, R-Va.; and former Trump administration press secretary Stephanie Grisham.

“As a proud conservative, I never thought I’d be endorsing a Democrat for President,” Kinzinger said in a statement. “But, I know Vice President Harris will defend our democracy and ensure Donald Trump never returns to the White House.”

Trump Vs. Harris 2024 Polls: Harris Expands Lead In Latest Survey

The vice president leads Trump 47% to 44% in Morning Consult’s latest poll released Monday, with 4% of registered voters surveyed selecting “someone else” and 4% saying they don’t know—the fourth week in a row Morning Consult’s weekly poll has shown Trump trailing Harris.
A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Thursday found Harris leads 42% to 37% when voters are allowed to say they don’t know who they’ll vote for, a shift from Harris’ 37%-34% lead in late July—but the lead shifts to just 49%-47% in Harris’ favor when voters who are unsure are pressured to answer.

State education levels varied during the COVID crisis and neither political party seems better on this. This leaves Minnesota fair game for criticism.

Education in Florida, for ex., actually prospered as being the top 6th state during the pandemic.

Presently, Florida ranks as the top state in education.

When I remember all the phony reporting done on Florida’s schools over the last few years, the results are quite a contrast.
