  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The objection is that a minor child is not old enough to be making these kinds of decisions. For instance do you think it would be appropriate for a 14 year old to get breast implants? If not why?
What if it was a male transitioning to female? What if it was a female who was unhappy with her breasts?
They don't. Their parents with advice from medical professionals make the decision.

This might be…evidence for the notion that Conservatives are generally a bit less willing (able?) to empathize with someone who’s child is transgender.
If their [conservative’s] children are “okay”, (not in need of transgender-care), then this set of protocols in treatment for transgender people, isn’t “needed” by anyone else.

If they’ve done right by their children, then the transgender among them will be open and honest enough to be upfront with their parents, and the protocols will suddenly be necessary. (After trying to talk the kids out of it for XX months/years…which would only be a natural (if not first) response.)

I explained that young girls of that age are not allowed to make those sorts of decisions. If there was a reason for it then the parents and he doctor(s) would make the decision following (obviously) consultation with the girl. The person who is definitely not going to decide is you. Which again prompts the question - which you didn't answer...would you want me to tell you what's best for your children? Or are you the best person for that?

Then we agree. Neither you nor I should be able to dictate what is best for someone's else's children. And who else believes that in this regard? Tim Walz.

But guess what? There’s this thing in the US called Child Protective Services. Do you know why they exist?

They don't exist to support your views on any matter. In the US it's 'a branch of your state’s social services department that is responsible for the assessment, investigation and intervention regarding cases of child abuse and neglect, including sexual abuse. In all of its procedures, CPS must follow state and federal laws'. What is Child Protective Services? | Stop It Now

If you think there has been any need to contact them, then it is your duty so to do. Seriously, even if you are wrong or it is shown that you are mistaken then you must contact them. In Australia it can be an offence not to. Morally, it's a given. Why wouldn't you?

So...have you ever contacted them?

Just about every parent who has a child removed from their home thinks they are doing the best for their child.

Along with just about every parent who hasn't. And also, just about every parent who has consented to the appropriate medical treatment for their child.

So this specific criteria really can't be used to determine much of anything about the current topic of discussion. Pretty sure it's an example of affirming the consequent.

There are parents taking little boys and letting them identify as little girls and wear dresses and wear their hair like a girl and go by a girl name and I don't think it's healthy but it's none of my business if the parents choose to do this.
Gender affirming surgery for minors though is something that some lawmakers feel is not healthy and some states may take action to prohibit or limit such surgeries.

My grandson is a child. He's ten. So what should and shouldn't be considered would be vastly different between a 17 year old and a ten year old.
Once someone is 18 they are free to go out and carve themselves in any way they please; I couldn't care less. I just don't want to hear them whining and complaining 10 years later about how society allowed them to be so stupid. Under 18 they are too young to make those kind of decisions for themselves. If the parents allow it then any thing that happens down the road is their fault and they should be held fully accountable by society for any harm they cause their child. Make them think twice before doing something so stupid.

Bro, there are Australians and Europeans who are tired of the LGTV stuff also. And yes, Europe is a bit left of the US, but even the Europeans know that this trans stuff is messed up. American elites (on both sides of the aisle, such as Big Oil and Big Pharma) and corporations seem to poison their population, while the Europeans care about protecting their population.

Sweden bans gender bending for teens:
Has anyone pointed out yet that the OP article is outdated, being from February 2023?

Euronews:The Swedish parliament has passed a law lowering the age for people to change their gender identity from 18 to 16.

Those under 18 still need approval from a guardian, a doctor and the National Board of Health and Welfare.

The law also stipulates that an official diagnosis for gender dysphoria, a condition of psychological distress experienced by those whose gender expression does not match their gender identity is no longer required.

The bill was passed 234-94 with 21 lawmakers absent, following a debate that lasted for nearly six hours.

Sweden joins a number of countries with similar laws including Denmark, Norway, Finland and Spain.

Some of them know how to use a gun so should we teach all of them how to use guns?
Yes! Gun safety needs to be taught in America. Perhaps if it were, there would be fewer accidental gun deaths.
Just because some know about something it's not an excuse to start teaching it
It should be taught in hygiene class.

So evil is present in other counties. Not news.
