A classic by Chris Tomlin, from 20 years ago, and from my childhood.

The song reminds me of how vast God's creation is, and how we can not describe God fully, though He came down as man in the form of Jesus Christ to die for our sins. The skies are His tabernacle.

Indescribable (Lyrics, 2004):
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creations revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go?
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light?
Yet, conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart
And You love me the same
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God

Awesome, Alex. Thanks!
You are welcome, brother.

Just think, there are 100 billion to 400 billion stars in our galaxy, and 200 billion to 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. :) We are so small, yet God loves us dearly and sent His only Son to save us (John 3:16-18). God is totally Indescribable, and amazing, as shown through His love for us, and the beauty of His Creation.

Agreed. Have you ever contemplated the fact that He is very... busy? Look at what all He has His hand in - all the way from the micro to the macro level in all of creation. Yet like you say, somehow this unfathomable creative Being seems, above all, to chiefly find His greatest pleasure in fellowshiping with US - even though like the song says - He knows the depths of our hearts. Astounding!

God has done everything. Yes, He is busy, but to God, that is effortless. He has found his greatest fellowship with us sinners. God knows everything about our hearts. This stuff is unfathomable, so it makes me tear up that God the Father sent the Son of Man to save us. Also, God did not have to create a vast universe that is billions of light-years across just for human existence, but He did. That shows how God reveals His infinite power to us through creation. Humans will probably not visit another solar system, but God placed billions of stars in our galaxy.

You are welcome. Also, amen, brother. This song is powerful, and has deep meaning, and that is why I enjoy Chris Tomlin's music a lot. I remember when this style of music, as well as this song, was on the Christian radio station (98.5 KTIS in Minnesota) when I was a kid in the 2000s.

Just looked at these verses, and the song is very Christian.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV): "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

1 Kings 8:17 (NIV): "But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!"

Nehemiah 9:6 (NIV): "You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."
