  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump tells Christians their 'religion will be in tatters' if Biden wins: 'We answer to God in Heaven'

I completely disagree. It's a life in development that deserves protection. No women should have the "right" to kill her offspring just because she wants to. That's selfish. I'm also not a woman, but AM a former fetus.

This isn't a religious issue, it's the difference between right and wrong. Is robbing banks also a religious issue?

You're right, I'm not Biden's judge. However, actions speak louder than words.

If Biden truly respected his Catholicism, then he would not receive Holy Communion until he sincerely repents. That's my honest opinion.
You shall know them by their fruits.

You are right a fetus is a little one but it can't breathe until it is granted the breath of life. I understand that the Church teaches that life begins in the womb and it does, however, it is not made manifest until it breathes. Can a human live outside of the womb if it can't breathe? I am personally against abortion but I understand how in a secular country, women would be granted the right to be in control of their reproductive rights. I can also see why a Christian may believe that an independent life begins with the ability to breathe. I don't think the issue is black and white. I can believe it's wrong without requiring everyone to think it's wrong. If that makes me a bad Catholic I still trust that God will forgive me. Especially because I am not a woman and will never be faced with that choice.

Also, I disagree that Biden "mocks and insults" Catholics. You are not his judge and one can disagree with a tenant of Catholicism and still believe in the sacraments. Especially if they are elected to represent both Christians and non-Christians. He is a public servant of a secular government.
Do you know any women who have had an abortion in the past?

Lies tend to come off as blatant .. when someone from another culture writes the speeches.
I'm pretty sure Trump wandered off the teleprompter for most of those lies.

People are so irked by Trump's lies that this data will probably be available a decade from now.

It's not random but it is scientific. When it comes to science, there is a difference between a fetus and a baby. I do agree that morally according to my religion, it is wrong to end the life of a fetus. I just want to clarify that there is a difference between religious belief and scientific fact.
So is this a true belief or a false belief?

That would be the difference between a normal politician and a compulsive liar like Donald Trump.

Trump’s false or misleading claims total 30,573 over 4 years

Seems like a huge number even for a politician.
Matthew 7:1-5

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Proverbs 6:16 Six things there are, which the Lord hateth, and the seventh his soul detesteth: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that deviseth wicked plots, feet that are swift to run into mischief, 19 A deceitful witness that uttereth lies, and him that soweth discord among brethren.

I think God has it right. He can judge, but He gave us proverbs to be wary of those who would undermine His ways.

Washington: "I cannot tell a lie."
Nixon: "I cannot tell the truth."
Trump "I cannot tell the difference."

You cannot give Joe Biden or Kamala a pass for lying merely because Trump did it more.

Furthermore, Trump protects the lives of the unborn, while Kamala wants abortion at any stage.

#1. No. The Church HAS ACTUALLY spoken against the death penalty.
#2. So? He publicly supports it. That's all. He has no right to receive Holy Communion without public repentance. Period.
Well, has he passed any laws about it? Has he paid for one? Then he hasn't committed the sin of abortion. Maybe YOU should go to confession for passing judgment on a fellow believer when it's not your place to do so. As the Bible says "judge not lest you be judged." Especially when he never actually participated in an abortion.

The extremists control the party. Whatever individuals might think, from a legal aspect, the Democrats want no restrictions.
I think you are buying into propaganda with that statement but I understand how typical that is for members of the Trump cult.

So is this a true belief or a false belief?
Beliefs are what they are, beliefs. Facts are what they are facts. Most people believe that proven facts are true but people also have beliefs that have nothing to do with proven facts. So, a belief is true if it is supported by facts and a belief not based on proven fact is a personal opinion which may or may not be true.
