  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are there any facts contrary to T.O.E?

But you surely agree it is dramatic? We all need a little drama in our lives - as long as we remember drama is a form of fiction.
Ive considered running for Drama Queen
as at 4' 11" I don't have a chance at Ms Hong Kong.

Very dramatic. But as I’ sure we would all agree saying A caused B normally requires some supporting evidence.

It’s a shame really that the idea of ‘everything has a cause’ does sound convincing but then we hear in the same breath ‘apart from God’. For some reason this example of special pleading never counts as special pleading.

Curious.

A very tall hat might be in order. That’s how chefs, Bishops and footmen make themselves taller.

I myself have a hat that adds six inches to my height.

Just curious.

Have you not noticed that no matter how often people can point out that theories aren't proven that people still use it regardless? Therefore, does it not make a tiny bit of sense to communicate with them on the same level?
It would make more sense to educate them in the proper usage.

Isn't it difficult to walk around on top of a hat?

Even for someone as optimistic as me, I do think we have reached a point where it's been shown on this issue they don't want to learn that theories aren't proven.

If theories were proven, we'd have what? about seven moons?

Not at all.

Are you having trouble understanding?

Here ... let me help you.

Assume all theories about the moon are proven.

Theory One: Capture Theory

Now we have one moon.

Theory Two: Fission Theory

Now we have two moons.

Theory Three: The Impact Theory

Now we have three moons.

Theory Four: The Two Moon Theory

Now we have four moons.

Etc.

You're still wrong, and just because we have different ideas for how Earth got the moon doesn't mean that we get a new moon for every theory that's put forward. It's still one moon.

If all the theories about how we got our moon were correct, we would have about ten moons now.

Would look weird in the swimsuit thing.
I stand in relatively shallow water and insist my associates stand several feet further out to sea to convince beach users that I am of a similar height to my fellows.

Parallax is my enemy.

No it doesn't. That logic makes no sense.
It does if you think about it. Words can cause things. Changing the classification of Pluto from planet to dwarf planet had actual ontological consequences for Pluto. It's not surprising to learn that our theory about the Moon causes the moon rather than the other way around like we thought. ;)

No, scientific theories aren't proven.
That is true; I choose not to believe 100% ToE as I was taught. The primordial soup part doesn't add up. You believe the other way, this is what I was talking about in a belief system.
Only mathematical formulas are proven.
What do you think about quantum physics? This science is backed by math.

Why do you keep calling anything related to evolution a belief system? It's a foundational part of biological science. I'd hardly call that a belief system.

What do you think about quantum physics? This science is backed by math.

Do not give one jot of thought to it.

AV, I'm wondering what books or journal articles from bona fide evolutionists you've read completely. Care to share one or two from your working bibliography?
