NAIROBI, Kenya (Morning Star News) – A Muslim in eastern Uganda burned his 19-year-old daughter with a flat iron on July 21 after learning that she had converted to Christianity, sources said.

Naasike Maliyati of Nampologoma, Butaleja District said she attended an evangelistic crusade with a friend in the course of a visit to her grandmother in Lwangoli, Busoba Sub-County, Mbale District, on July 15.

“When they called people to give their lives to Christ, I also went and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior,” Maliyati said. “When I went back home, I told my sister that I had left Islam. She went and told our dad of my conversion to Christianity.”

The following Sunday Maliyati, a student at Noor Islamic Institute in Mbale, attended a church service, and upon returning home found her father, 44-year-old Abdulrahim Kutosi, and uncles angry with her, she said.

“They tied me up, beat me, and finally my dad picked up a hot flat iron and hot water and burned me and shouted loudly that I was an embarrassment to the family,” Maliyati told Morning Star News. “I was burnt for leaving Islam and converting to Christianity, as my father furiously continued shouting that I had ashamed the family. He continued saying that even Allah is annoyed with me as the pain continued inside my body.”

Did anyone catch the the father was upset that his daughter would cause the family embarrassment?

Seems to be pride that is causing this horrific type of assault on ones own family member.

And who else is behind this type of Pride? Anyone we know of, like a fallen angel named Lucifer?

It's not pride, but shame, that motivates these kinds of acts. Honor killings and atttacks have to do with dynamics of shame. By converting to Christianity, the daughter would shame a Muslim father in the eyes of his community.

Not all Muslims are violent though, only the extremists.

That’s true. It’s sad Muslims and Christian’s can’t live together peacefully in Muslim dominated countries. I pray and hope something changes.

They should convert, they should ALL convert, but they should be very careful about how they do it. Islam is crazy about losing even one member to the Christian faith, rather having a dead child than a Christian child. It's nasty.

A suitable punishment for this father would be for the courts to decree that she and her newfound church could burn him and the uncles exactly as they did to her. And then she and her church forgiving these brutal people.

I don't obviously have an exact one size fits all solution. Some people may have to flee their hostile or even murderous family, or even move to a new town or country. It is costly to become a Christian, for some much more costly than others. Enter in with eyes wide open. And prepared. But do enter in.

What does the Catholic Church teach about martyrs?

Is it assumed that they go straight to heaven when they die?

Reminds me of the history of the state of Maryland. Maryland started out a Catholic colony. But they tolerated other religions, unlike most of the other colonies. The colonial norm was religious intolerance. Only Quaker Pennsylvania and Catholic Maryland were tolerant. So Protestant exiles from differing Protestant states fled to Maryland … and eventually became a majority and suppressed the Catholic Church in Maryland.

Point being religious Intolerance is common enough in this world when a religion achieves power. The exceptions may only be temporary. When Islam gains power in Europe then Europe will suppress Christianity, minimally by putting on a tax on Christians, but maybe much worse. Islam is only a religion of peace for other Muslims (of course only Muslims of the correct kind). Christians have not always done better. Those that have done better often get walked on.

Sadly the entire system was based on pride.
Ishmael was shunned as the rightful one, Muhammad came to proclaim pride to the descendants.
A family fight since BC.

Unfortunately a system built entirely on pride needs strong prayers.

Leave your father and mother [hate their upbringing rather than hate them for the Lord says never eye for an eye or hate but He was foretelling the circumstances of what to hate - the upbringing but at that time He could not elaborate because....He would only give a piece of prophecy] and follow Him, Jesus.

Leave and go to a Church and if martyred for the Lord, in the courage of grace you get the wreath of the martyrs.
