  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And in response, the King shall say to them, "Amen I say to you, whenever you did this for one of these, the least of my brothers, you did it for me."
(Matthew 25:40)

Art can provoke, how does the image above provoke you?

When Jesus gives the New Covenant Commandment, He begins with "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

By the epistle of James, the Commandment reads as such, "Love your neighbor as yourself".

As I carefully ponder on your beautifully chosen passage of scripture and look at this enormously thought provoking art, I am fully reminded that we should be Loving humanity as if each person were the face of God. Because Jesus says to even Love our enemies, I am even further reminded that, though the New Covenant is, indeed, an "easy yoke", it's actual applications are so much more complex and in need of God the Holy Spirit within us to grow, within. To Love like this, of a sincere heart, truly takes the work of God, within.

We are called the very "Body of Jesus Christ", which is beyond commission to actively heal humanity through physical provision and Love that has no boundaries. Though we never affirm Evil, per 1 Corinthians 13, we are commissioned to give without the desire to receive. As this artwork shows Christ as an indigent, it evokes the reality that Christian maturity will naturally lead us to compassion that implores us to bring provision to such as these with a cheerful Heart.

What a beautiful OP!
