  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It appears you and I are political opposites, since I disagree with every point in your post.

...With that being said, I'm sure neither of us are going to sway from our standpoints, so to spar with one another on political topics would surely be a wasted effort. Sorry to disappoint.
That's fine. Most of us have preconceived notions. I just wanted to make it clear after my first response that I am willing to consider logical arguments and I have been convinced to alter my point of view as logic dictates. I have seen you post for a while (your pic makes you stand out), and I have seen you to be a logical thinker so I wanted to give you a chance to convince me.

I wish you good fortune.

Ask a MAGA Republican what will happen if former President Donald Trump is convicted in any of his four criminal trials and the answer is almost always the same: civil war.
So now he's a convicted felon, and we don't have a civil war. I do have concerns about what will happen should he lose another election. Hopefully, the police will be ready for his supporters this time.

It can go both ways.
Yes, it can. For example, there were some disturbances in Portland when Trump won in 2016. Nothing like the insurrection in 2020, though.

Huh....???? That's not even close to right.
It's pretty much what happened. I think Trump got dragged into court for encouraging an insurrection.

So the Democrats raised $310 million in a few weeks in July. Since announcing her VP pick, they have raised $17 million.

The news that Harris selected Walz dropped just after 9 am — Business Insider published an article at 9:22 a.m. Eastern Time — and fundraising immediately spiked. Between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., donors contributed $6.6 million to ActBlue, the primary Democratic fundraising platform, Politico reported.
By 2:30 pm, Democrats had raised nearly $17 million in a 24-hour period, according to an online ActBlue tracker.
On the news, they said it was over $20 mil and counting

So now he's a convicted felon,
Now now you know better. You know very well the judge has not yet accepted and entered the jury verdict. Which is what is legally necessary to make Trump a convicted felon. I understand you are having way too much fun spinning facts here.

You need to support that claim.

From everything I have read, the jury convicted Trump of 34 counts so he is a convicted felon. The judge can reverse that but there needs to be evidence that no reasonable jury would convict given the evidence. Reversals are really rare, so don't hold your breath.

Yale Law professor outlines potential Trump legal strategy following guilty verdict: 'What the nation needs'

A Yale law professor disagrees with you. From the linked article:

“Despite media reports, Rubenfeld insisted that it's "not true" that Trump is already a "convicted felon," arguing that one is "not a convicted felon because of a jury verdict."

"You are not convicted until the judge enters that judgment of guilt. Now, in New York, it's very likely that Judge Merchan will enter that judgment of guilt against Trump on the same day that he issues sentencing. “

The liberal talking point that calls Trump now a convicted felon is premature and without basis in law.

That sounds desperate.
Trump was convicted by a jury of 34 felony charges in Manhattan. They found him guilty.

So he is a convicted felon. His lawyers are asking the judge to overturn the conviction based on the recent SCOTUS decision about immunity.

Until (and IF) the judge overturns the conviction, Trump IS convicted of 34 felonies.

Ignoring a law professor and continuing a false claim is not a good strategy. The jury came back with a guilty verdict but until the process is completed calling Trump a current felon is premature and not factually correct. But I do realize it is an important liberal talking point.

Your source comes off as biased.

Trump's own lawyers are appealing his conviction. They are asking Judge Merchan to overturn it based on the SCOTUS decision about immunity.
Paying off a porn star during a campaign when he was not yet president is not an official act.

The fact is, Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers.
He is also an adjudicated rapist, and an adjudicated fraudster (Trump university, Trump foundation, his taxes, bank loans, for instance).
I can provide links.

Now let's get back to the topic of the thread which is in the OP.

Imagine when Trump wins again….I fear for our safety because of all the riots and hatred against him. God help us all.
What were the actual counts of injuries and fatalities following Trump's victory in 2016?

I suspect the answer is much lower than your post would imply.

It can go both ways.
Of course it can go both ways. But there is one critical asymmetry here. For some baffling reason, many Trump supporters believe the manifest lie that the election is stolen. And if you believe your fundamental democratic rights have been taken away from you, you are much more likely to respond with violence.

Insulting felons is a kind of widespread bigotry.

Anytime you label someone in a negative way, you're doing wrong.

Also, "felon" is a legal term used in judicial and court systems. It's not supposed to be used as a descriptor outside of that particular system... Unless you're trying to hurt someone.

Hurting others is not the Holy Path.

When a man who insults everyone he does not like with goofy names, wants to be in arguably the most powerful position in the world, it behooves all of us to view just what kind of man he is. It is unreasonable to expect those that do not like or respect Trump to refrain from posting facts about this man.

Regarding Trump's fraudulent activities:

Regarding his morality:

  • Trump was caught on a hot mic when on Entertainment tonight making lewd comments about kissing women and grabbing them by the privates and it was aired in 2016. “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”
  • Trump felt empowered to walk into the dressing rooms unannounced when he owned beauty pageants. "A former beauty queen is confirming Donald Trump’s own words about walking into pageant dressing rooms unannounced, following recently resurfaced audio recordings where Trump boasted about his ability to do so as the owner of the Miss USA pageant."
  • Trump was adjudicated to have committed rape. "A judge has now clarified that this is basically a legal distinction without a real-world difference. He says that what the jury found Trump did was in fact rape, as commonly understood."
  • Many of his supporters view him as Christian, but he has never asked forgiveness for his sins.
You can add the fact that he was found guilty of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers. The Trump team is asking that the conviction be overturned.
But at this point, a jury convicted him of 34 felonies.

That’s true, but I don’t know what would happen this time around. Anyone is capable of violence regardless of party affiliation.

I pray and hope all stay safe and uninjured regardless of the outcome in November.

Yeah, you’re right.

For the record, I personally do NOT believe the election was stolen.

Don’t mention our candidate’s shortcomings!
In America, in 2024?

Sure, that’ll fly.

Maybe we should spend some time on the shortcomings on the leftist ticket. That should be enlightening.
