  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evangelical Christians’ view of Trump remains positive overall, but some concerns remain

Evangelical Christians largely remain supportive of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election as they did during the last two presidential election cycles, despite concerns regarding his ambivalent abortion stance that it is a "states rights" issue. The religious group that aided Trump in his 2016 presidential election victory is still supporting him this cycle, especially when the alternative is President Joe Biden. However, there is disagreement among evangelical Christians over the importance of regulating abortion, which is an issue upon which Trump is more moderate.
According to a March Pew Research Center poll, white evangelical Protestants were the religious group with the most positive view of Trump, as 67% viewed him favorably, including 30% who said “very favorably.” In a January opinion piece for Fox News, Hugh Hewitt, syndicated radio show host and law professor at Chapman University, explained that evangelical Christians are for Trump because of his support for religious freedom, his stance with parents against the progressive education system, and because they believe he’s being treated unjustly by the same political elites that view them unfavorably.

Don't people understand that Federal rules/laws are something (a standard) by which all other states must abide by, but that can also each make their own more strict rules/regulations/restrictions/laws regarding that?

Or am I wrong about that maybe?

Because of this oftentimes, Federal rules/laws most usually have to be a little bit less restrictive, or a little bit more lenient, etc.

God Bless.

Mr. Trump’s track record of appointing strong, conservative judicial candidates underscores his alignment with evangelical values. His vision to “make America great again” is not just a political slogan but a call to restore America’s Christian heritage since its greatness came from the Christian faith that inspired her. He will end diversity, equity and inclusion policies. He will make sure that we put America first. He will end atheism as a state-run religion. He will protect those who still believe in faith, family and freedom. For evangelicals, his administration stands as the only viable option for those of us who value religious freedom and the sanctity of life. As the elections approach, we must not be complacent. We are called to act decisively, uniting under Mr. Trump’s leadership to oppose Mr. Biden and the progressive left. By reinstating a leader who champions our Christian way of life and continues to support judicial appointments that protect our most sacred values, we can ensure that America remains faithful to its divine foundations. Let this be our call to arms: to mobilize effectively, ensure our voices are heard and secure a future that reflects our deepest convictions and Christian heritage.

By ending diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, does he plan on ending diversity, equity, and inclusion, etc?

And by ending atheism as a state-run religion, does he plan on putting another religion in it's place, etc?

We must be very, very careful with this new ground we are about to tread, because sometimes they can be the exact same way that some of the darkest parts of our history are about to repeat themselves, or are about to start all over again, etc.

And that to me is "scary", etc.

We want to always be going forwad, and not back, etc.

God Bless.

According to the constitution of the USA, there should never EVER be a state run religion in the USA. If DEI policies are terminated, then logically that tells me that Trump does plan on replacing DEI by using the system of meritocracy where people are hired and/or promoted in their jobs based upon a person's skills and abilities. I do 100% believe that Donald Trump and the vast majority of conservatives do not want to return American culture and society to the darkest parts of our American history.

I am not evangelical, but am a Catholic Christian, and would like a Christian president who is a bit more humble, that is why Peter Sonski is probably gonna be written in on my ballot. Much better than Joe's stance, that is for sure. Though, the Joe supporters will jump on me in a matter of minutes, saying "Peter is not qualified". Well, Joe is not qualified either. He is a little old to be running for office. Even Trump is a little old to be running for office, and Trump has a flaky pro-life stance, as he sometimes is pro-abortion. If we want someone solidly pro-life, Peter Sonski appears to be the guy.

Peter Sonski's pro-life stance:

Trump flip-flops on pro-life (2024, opinion piece):

I should truly hope not, and will be praying that that never ever happens again.

Certain kinds of talk just scares me sometimes, etc.

And sometimes sends red flags up for me sometimes, etc.

Sometimes those are false though, etc.

God Bless.

During his first term, Trump valued talent over experience.
This gave us Jared, who told governors “they’re our [the Trump Administration’s] ventilators!”, guess how that turned out?

I agree, and I prayed. This is why we must go with a third party, one that is conservative, pro-family, and more humble. Even if third party does not win, it means we tried. The days of classy conservativism, such as back in the 1980s, are over. Now, we have a man who owns a Boeing 757 jet, and who speeches sound similar to sandpaper, as in harsh and with less self-control. On the other side, we have a liberal who is a Catholic, but is pro-abortion and can barely perform well in a debate. We need Mitt Romney, Reagan or Abe Lincoln back for the conservatives.

Call me an old soul, but classy politicians are less common in the 2020s compared to a few decades ago.

That is a fair point. However, and we are going a bit off topic with this rabbit hole, but more experience does not equate to more wisdom. Also, I do not think that simple anecdotes bring much value when attempting to discern whether or not a person has done a very good job with what said person was tasked to do. But again, now we are going off topic about the views of most evangelicals remaining positive about Donald Trump's first term in office as well as his (hopefully) second term in office.

If Trump wins, we will have (up to) four years of lively debates over his second coming and the resultant Administration.

You've confused Americans with North Koreans.

The Second Amendment forbids the government from aiding or suppressing any and all religion. Which is how it should be.

You mean the first amendment, not the second amendment.

The second Amendment says:

Though, I do not own any arms nor care to do so, except kitchen knives. :)

The first amendment is right here:
