To serve his country, Donald Trump should leave the race

Aged poorly. That is a phrase which sort of defines Trump. He is past his prime, and now all he does is ramble incoherently abut sharks and batteries and windmills.

This comment makes no sense.

Trump still has a few months to drop out before he is sentenced for his criminal convictions.
agreed - but he never had a prime.
According to the last few lawsuits against him - whether civil or public - 'Prime' is not a word I would use to describe any phase of his life.

Another typo! oh noooos!

Wine - new wine. The grammar police are going to have a heyday on this thread!

But are we not all new wine?
Pun - it's a form of humor.

Danger - danger you misspelled a name! The grammar police will find you!
He has explained that it was no mistake but a deliberate jab. We would not have known this if the question were not asked.

Today's winner.
Challenge accepted! Let's try that on 1 Corinthians 13

13 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have Donald Trump, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have Donald Trump, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have Donald Trump, I gain nothing.
4 Donald Trump is patient, Donald Trump is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Donald Trump does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Donald Trump never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and Donald Trump. But the greatest of these is Donald Trump.

On what basis do you make this "born again" or even "believer" claim? Trump hasn't changed. He doesn't talk about his "spiritual journey" or "giving himself to Jesus" or any of those other things the "born again" often say.
Exactly. He just sells bibles with his name on it and raves about them having the Constitution in them as well.

We all fail the test to some degree or another. It's just hilariously awful when you use certain people. But we should avoid being proud of being less awful than they are.

The DNC has gone into full panic mode and they are acting very shamefully.

Sure - it's a cheap and easy psychological ploy to say "At least I'm not like that guy!" That's not what this is about. This is about a nation willing to have that guy represent them in an official capacity!

But it's even more serious than that.
Forget his civil sexual assault cases and conviction over defrauding NYC.
Forget the other personal character failings.

The Australian ABC’s flagship current affairs program “4 Corners” ran a special on Project 2025 called "Retribution" which was alarming enough. But after that aired they shared the full interview with the former CIA director.

”Leon Panetta says countries are governed either by leadership or by crisis. He tells Four Corners that democracy would be threatened if Trump was to be re-elected as President of the United States and says, ‘it was bad enough the first time’. Panetta speaks about what he sees as Trump’s disregard for intelligence, focus on power, desire to mobilise the military and what that would mean for the United States. In this interview, Panetta shares his fears about America’s future and exposes the troubles of the first Trump administration.”

The section on Trump not wanting to even listen to intelligence briefings - so that America is effectively without a Commander in Chief - and not wanting to be in NATO - weakening the world - are just plain alarming. Trump should not be let near a political party - let alone be a Candidate for the White House.

It's no surprise that Trump is the first republican candidate to lose the military vote since FDR last ran.

Bad enough that he called us "losers" and "suckers"; in the 2020 election, he tried to stop counting of military ballots.

Trump's attacks on mail-in ballots rankle some military vets

Kinda digging yourself a deeper hole there buddy. You don't get the point. The moment you predicate any thread on why your un-preferred candidate should clear the way for your preferred one, you open yourself to schadenfreude.

In a nation that founded itself on a republic where people should have a representation of their choice, any demand that certain people be disallowed from participation because you don't like him/her runs contrary to the nation's ideals. Instead of uplifting your preferred candidate (which stepped out), you went to requesting the other to drop out. I personally think this kind of mentality is incompatible with the spirit of democracy where the best get the most votes. And that is not predicated on your personal feelings or perceptions but to each and everyone that is eligible to participate in the election.

It aged poorly because what happened is the exact opposite of what was demanded.

PS: I don't like Trump either but I respect that he has a right to participate.

Well - it depends on your notion of 'rights'. I think the public good should have a 'right' here.
Your constitution is clear about the place of traitors in government - but Donald's buddies in the Supreme Court prevented Jack Smith progressing to court. (So far - it is being appealed.)

Basically when you have a CIA director - and so many equivalently highly placed people from his previous administration - saying the guy is just not intellectually or emotionally fit for the job - doesn't the country have a 'right' to be led by someone better?

How did the GOP get like this?

Once again...

Like Donald Trump...

The best thing about social media is the memes and parodies that come from it. It let humor in where tensions are high. I just wish Americans can just be less partisan but those days are long gone. Now each side views the other as the enemy more than the actual enemies of America.

First and foremost I'm not American.

Secondly any notion that a group of unelected people get's to determine the suitability of a candidate is nothing short of elitism. In short the deep state. If the people wants Trump, it is the people's right. Who are we to say they can't. We may think we have all the information to deem Trump unsuitable but do we have the totality of the truth? Are there counterpoints we dismiss because of our biases. You deem him traitor. Yet some also deem Biden traitor. You have your "evidence" and they have theirs. Who is right? I'm not God to know.

Ultimately the American people should choose. And their choices should not be filtered by our personal whims.

I know too many Trump supporters to toss them all in the same pit. Many are good and decent people, who are just die-hard republicans. There is a cult, but not every Trump supporter is a blind fanatic.

I'm intrigued by the thinking of Trumpsters who are talking about taking legal action to force the democrats to nominate Biden, even if he doesn't want to run.
