  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like Grace and Glorie starring Gena Rowlands.
If you know of any other good movies like this one, I hope you will share them.

Life's been kind of tough the past few years; watching this movie last nite I realized I haven't watched any 'feel good' movies in a long time. While the subject of this movie was very serious, it was a very endearing movie, and did leave me with a good feeling about life and relationships. I thought both women were excellent in their roles.

Christian themed or just good clean movies? A friend swears by The Chosen but I've heard and read yeas and nays about it so can't comment one way or the other.

I honestly don't watch many modern movies or much TV so I don't know what's out there. A Man Called Peter (NOT the Peter of the Bible.) It's a Wonderful Life. The Bishop's Wife. I like the old comedies from the '40s, '50s, some '60s. The Thin Man movies can be hilarious. Doris Day classics. I ran across the original Cheaper By the Dozen from 1950 with Myrna Loy. Yours, Mine and Ours with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda.

My husband and I mostly stream what we watch. Lots of old movies and series on some free channels. A few old James Garner western comedies are on tonight, might watch one. We just finished up season 5 of the old Donna Reed Show. We get two over the air channels that show old stuff, so we watch Perry Mason and a few others on them. Innocuous shows that don't spew bad language, etc.

I'm deprived of life outside of TV and internet. :( Last night my 14+ year old TV died!

Oh no! Hope you get a new one soon. Check out Pluto TV on your computer. It's free.

I like Pluto!

I just put on Pluto's "I Love Lucy" channel and let her keep playing!
(ILL is one of my all-time favorite 'feel good' programs!)

But there are lots of other oldies channels to pick from on Pluto ... and all for free.
Not loaded down with too many commercials, either.

I watch tv using Roku. I cut off the cable a few years ago.
Good way to save money, and there are so many options available now using Roku.

"Frndly" is a real nice channel; oldies and family programming.
Starts at $6.99/month, but worth it if you like clean, family entertainment.
I like it very much, too. Usually watch Westerns on it.

Great idea, but I don't know how to get sound on my computer. Thanks for the tip.
My daughter is coming tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to ask her about the sound.

Pluto has just about all I need when it comes to TV. Classic comedy is my favorite. I dislike depressing crime shows and reality shows. I do like some of the faith based shows, like "Doc". Not sure if it's on Pluto but I see it somewhere.

"I Love Lucy" is great, even after seeing it for decades. There are some timeless episodes -- like the grape stomping and the chocolates on the assembly line.

Same here with ROKU and cable, about 7-8 years ago. We have a stick but graduated to ROKU TV. We watch the free version of YouTube a lot -- we have a favorite guy who travels around PA, another who does metal detecting, a woman who feeds squirrels... We're weird I guess. ;)

We get MeTV with rabbit ears. Lots of westerns there, but we usually watch "Hogan's Heroes", "Green Acres", shows like that.

Lol ...
Well ... I accidently found this man on YouTube who cleans up hoarded houses and really messy ones. He does it for free ... for persons who really need help with their homes. Most of the people he helps are either mentally ill, suffering with addiction, elderly, very ill, or dealing with some sort of trauma. In his videos, he usually shares some of the person's backstory without revealing the identity of the person. When he talks about these situations, it's very clear to me that he understands and feels much compassion for the individuals he helps. And he's a very good cleaner, offering cleaning tips along the way! He usually posts a new video every week. I really enjoy watching him clean and listening to the narrative as he does so! lol

--- Now, I guess that puts me in the 'weird' category also! ^_^
