  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What about this Peace Plan?

You might get a ceasefire if…
1. Neutral UN Blue Helmets
2. Belarus is banned from nato.

You might get Russia to pull out some troops if…
1. Formal ownership of Crimea
2. Georgia is banned from nato.
3. Kazakhstan is banned from nato.

A weird obsession of yours, but whatever, it is a minor point.
2. Belarus is banned from nato.
NATO doesn't want Belarus.

Unlikely to happen.
2. Georgia is banned from nato.
Georgia is not part of this war.
3. Kazakhstan is banned from nato.
Kazakhstan is not part of this war.

So…

We could get a ceasefire?

Do you not understand that the principles in this war are Ukraine and Russia? You keep asking for non-combatants to make concessions to Russia. Why?

At this point members of NATO seem to love Ukraine,
it would be difficult to ban Ukraine.

It would be much easier to ban other countries,
that might give Russia a reason to stop the war.

Again, you seem to think that it is NATO that has to give Russia something for Ukraine to get peace. Russia didn't invade NATO (they wouldn't dare).

NATO got drunk at a party,
lost in a corn maze,
and woke up the next morning in Russia‘s front yard.

Should we build new shipyards?
I'm late to this discussion but Yes, most of the shipbuilding is done by China and other Asian countries. I saw this on the Whats going on with shipping YouTube channel. I like you want to see peace but it will never happen especially with Russia because of 80 years of hate and maybe 80 years more or until we blow ourselves up to Kingdom come.

I blame NATO for not taking Putin's word seriously going back to the mid-2000s or maybe earlier. We've become an arrogant bully on the world stage and the reason for BRICS nations.

This is my last post.

NATO members have had direct borders in the post-Soviet era since Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia joined. All are nations that were invaded by (Soviet) Russia during WW2 and then spent half a century under direct or indirect rule from Moscow. There was no Russian invasion when they joined NATO and brought NATO back again in direct contact with Russia's border.

Crimea is like a company,
Russia and Ukraine both own stock in that company.

If one side had enough money
they could buy the company.

No, it is a piece of land. The native peoples are the Tartars.
